Do the crosses on each of the 4 corners of the shield suggest that they owe allegiance to no one? Typically this is where family history is displayed according to heraldric tradition. Also I think that is a cross of St. George on the bottom, same as England, but not sure of the significance.
Also unsure of the meaning of what looks like oak leaves. If anyone knows the significance of oak leaves do tell. I see them everywhere
