"There was a time when our children stood at attention, put their hand on their heart, and in one UNITED voice, recited the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE."
Mr. Q+, even if that is you, Mr. President. With all due respect, PLEASE consider this. I was one of those children, but there was also 166 years from the birth of this nation in 1776, when we did NOT say that pledge of allegiance. It became a thing in 1942, the product of a turn of the century socialist minister. Ask yourself this, is this nation with it's pledge of allegiance a better place now than it was for those first 166 years? This history buff would say, "no."
It is to God that we should be pledging our allegiance first and foremost. And perhaps secondarily to the constitution of this country which has provided us with the freedom we enjoyed for a time, and for which we should be thankful to God that he raised up imperfect, but wise men, who hammered that document out in our behalf. And if we don't; then all the flag saluting, chest beating, song singing activities won't amount to a hill of beans.
