China in Africa

It would be a mistake to underestimate what China is doing in Africa. Africa is huge.

The Chinese are developing infrastructure; railways, roadways, airports, ports.

Imagine building ALL the roads/railways etc in ALL of the US, India, China, and Europe SIMULTANEOUSLY.

The Chinese are doing this to provide jobs for Chinese. They are expected to lose 75% of all their manufacturing jobs to automation within the next couple of decades. They are going to export huge amounts of skilled labor to Africa.

Additionally they are attempting to secure oil/minerals and food security through African projects.

Just like building the railways in the US, economic centers will pop up at hubs in what used to be the middle of nowhere.

This will have a profound effect on the value of the US dollar and the ability to levy sanctions against the Chinese. They are attempting to break free of the US and European influence.

This is a story that doesn't get much press in the US. It's worth keeping and eye on.

The US response has been the creation of AFRICOM (US military AFRIcan COMmand), currently based in Europe. US Special Forces shoring up selected regimes through military cooperation. But a coordinated economic plan has yet to materialize.

Of course we got Hillary (the first SecState to visit Mozambique) and Obama on the lecture circuit recently in Africa, crawling all over the place, but really only for their own prosperity and not that of the US.

Ever notice how our "elites" like property in the Southern Hemisphere on the rainshadow side of mountain ranges near glaciers? New Zealand South Island? Patagonia? Think. Most nukes in the Northern Hemisphere. Rainshadow means fallout don't make it over the mountain. Glaciers are pure water.
