God damn…I too have got ahold of the house recording office. Did you talk to anyone?? They told me it was $100 and I twisted her arm a little bit and I ended up talking to a gentleman who gave me a LOT of info. Has to be the nicest person in DC.

Alright guys…Here's what I was told and what I think.
#1. There are SEVEN cameras in the House, not 4. They are ALL fixed, and from what I could get, and the gentleman was AMAZING and one of the kindest and most helpful folks I've ever encountered in Gov of ANY sort…there is NO chance that the shot we want came from one of them.
#2. BUT…As I have said for the past 24 hours time and again, KEEP digging.
#3. It's all digital, and there is NO extra footage kept from the feeds when the director has them choose between cameras. They keep the FINAL cut and the rest of the data goes bye bye, which makes sense. But AGAIN, file that FOIA NOW.
#3. Order the $100 tape. Y'all are chipping in, I say do it now, but I'd call it a long shot at this point. But DO IT!!
#4. I was given a very detailed tour of just HOW the press pools are decided and we had a great big laugh about who, in his words, the "big dog" was this year…yup, CNN. He said (((they))) were the ones with all the cameras and positioning this year. We never figured out HOW each year's selection went, but the SOTU is very unusual in that they have cameras all over the joint and can do cut aways and fades.
#5. He suggested checking, and I have not yet,
A. Politico
B. Roll Call
C. The Hill
He said that since they are local, they sometimes have different footage, and to call and check their websites. Not sure.
I asked, "if I see still shots, captures, from that night that were NOT from the Capitol cameras, for instance, from up in the balcony, who would have that footage, and he said if it was DURING the speech, he didn't see how it could be anyone other than CNN.
So there that is. I'm going to post this and rest my eyes. I think this will make 8 36+ hour "days" in a row going at this, and I am, like many of you, zonked.
So there's my report Anons. It took all morning and about 15 calls and transfers, but this man has been doing THIS for 30+ years now, and I'm pretty good with the BS detector.

My understanding was no, that would not be allowed. He said a lot of the shots came from them, but the (fake) news teams could be all over the place.
If we compared the NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN feeds and checked out where they lined up and where they didn't, that could be of help.
But he was VERY clear, there are SEVEN cameras and they were ALL in operation that night with NO remaining footage besides the $100 tape our other Anon mentioned.
