Well the numbers could be correct as displayed on their financial reports, but the source and the mechanism through which those numbers are generated are in question and may not be what the public might think.
Public companies' annual reports are always vague so it's very easy for them to hide very well. But logically thinking, for a social media company like FB, how the heck could it generate so much revenue and profits? Is advertising really that effective on FB to warrant so much ads money being spent on its platform? Or is ads revenue just a cover and all the ARPU metrics we look at are generated through bots and money gained from selling data? I think we all sort of know the answer here.
