I heard this explained by some journalist while obama was in office. People had the same complaint then, but it turns out that in journalism school journalist are taught that, presidents are referred to as President x the first time they are referred to in a piece and Mr. X subsequent times.

In NPRs push to sell the woodward narrative, he kept pushing the idea that the resistance is trying to "stop world war III'. He said it at least twice, if not three times. The reporter was pushing back some, questioning his anonymous sources and if the "fiction" label would stick since everyone is denying his version of events. He went off on a tangent about how trade with South Korea is a classified intelligence operation and if Trumps trade ideas were allowed to be implemented he implied WWIII would ensue. Interesting then, how the write up on their web page, just pushed his explanation and skipped the parts about WWIII. I guess the WWIII idea didnt play well with the audience so they had to try salvage the narrative with the write up.
