I noticed the people around the exchange were looking slightly uncomforatble like 'ok, so now what's this going on now?' while it was taking place; once the usss replacements finished coming in they settled back down quickly though.
That tells me that the surrounding audience didn't really support what [the three] were saying among themselves to begin with (even though no visible violence took place), and thus felt more comfortable about the situation after [they] were removed.
