Most filters won't get fluoride our of your life. It's in all foods and all fluids near the cities. Rural people are a little better off because of wells.
Iodine is the only effective measure shown in rats (tests can't be done on humans because iodine is immeasurable in living beings). It needs to be taken in quantities equal to what the Japanese ingest daily (13mg or 13,000mcg). This is ~80 times our RDA, which is only 150mcg or 250mcg if pregnant.
