Exactly. Jesus has been keeping me "in line" for a long time. The line to Heaven. Scripture obviously does not contradict the view that men are like sheep. What matters is who you have as your Shepherd. At one time I made it my business to determine the best Bible translation I could find. I wanted to learn from the most accurate version available. Why? Wicked people do want to suppress the truth and people do make mistakes. That should not, I don't believe make us reject the Bible itself. "Coincidentally" I decided upon the Geneva Bible as the " best ". I think the Puritan Pilgrims used it. Pretty good indication that an understanding of scripture was important to the founding of our country.
