Whilst I don't deny the disintegration of some material, video evidence clearly shows that there was still plenty of steel within the rubble.

 

And that's not even going into the pools of liquid steel that remained hot for weeks.

 

The bulk of the steel was apparently shipped to China and India. The Chinese firm Baosteel purchased 50,000 tons at a rate of $120 per ton, compared to an average price of $160 paid by local mills in the previous year.
