IMO the basic plot of The Hunt For Red Oct is that someone on the other side (bad side) is ready, even wants, to turn to the good side. the problem is that a good guy had to not only figure this out but also figure out how to help him do it.

Who in our gov is that bad guy and how do we/Q help him turn to our side?
