This now makes me think back when I was in elementary school, and we were encouraged to donate blood. Kids were marched down to the gym where blood donations were being taken by whoever was sponsoring it.

They have them in the wings as well, as the center tanks. There are no passenger liners that I know of that only have center tanks. Center tanks are generally smaller capacity too, so that would greatly inhibit their range.

Most all planes have multiple fuel tanks. Even most light SE aircraft have 2 wing tanks. Larger aircraft have multiple wing tanks, multiple center tanks and some even have tail tanks.
