UN Chief: Idlib Must Not Be Transformed Into a 'Bloodbath'

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters Tuesday at UN headquarters that an all-out assault on Idlib "would unleash a humanitarian nightmare unlike any seen in the blood-soaked Syrian conflict."

Antonio Guterres also appealed Tuesday to Russia, Iran and Turkey to "spare no effort to find solutions that protect civilians" in Syria's Idlib and said it was "absolutely essential" a full-scale battle was avoided.

In late August, Russia warned that terrorists operating in Idlib were staging a false-flag chemical attack set to provoke Western states' intervention. On Monday, US National Security Adviser John Bolton announced that Washington, London and Paris would give a "strong and united" response in case of chemical weapons' use by the Syrian government.

The presence of terrorist groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone remains a pressing issue, while Damascus has managed to eliminate militants from most of its country's territories following years of armed conflict.

Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said during a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday that UNSC member states should not confuse anti-terrorist operations with armed involvement. The Russian envoy also said the threats by Western countries against Syria’s sovereignty continue and they are no longer linked only to a possible chemical attack.

Turkey, Russia and Iran are the guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria. The leadership of the three countries is constantly engaged in dialogue on the situation in Syria. Most recently, on September 7, a trilateral summit, uniting the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran, was held in Tehran, during which the three leaders called on the militants operating in Idlib to join the nationwide truce regime.

Meanwhile, the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation said earlier in the day that the filming of a staged provocation with the alleged use of chemical weapons had begun in Idlib.

Iranian FM Blasts White House for Good Ties with Masterminds of 9/11

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif lashed out at the US administration for closing its eyes on the reality that the Saudi government played the main role in the 9/11 terrorist attack and then punishing Iran which is the first enemy of terrorist groups.

"17 years after 9/11, Iran – (the) 1st Muslim nation to condemn tragedy, mourn victims and take real action against al-Qaeda and its offshoots including, the ISIS and Nusrah (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) - has been fined $11bn and its citizens banned from US," Zarif wrote on his twitter page on Tuesday.

He referred to the friendly ties between Washington and Riyadh, and said, "All while White House auctions off foreign policy to terror sponsors (Saudi government) whose citizens perpetrated 9/11."

A large number of Western political activists, lawyers and university professors in a letter in late May dismissed allegations of Iran's involvement in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the US, stressing preparedness to testify in support of the Islamic Republic at the court.

The letter to the Iranian justice and foreign ministries was written after the Southern District Court's ruling "found the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and The Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran" liable for the deaths of more than 1,000 people as a result of the September 11 attacks. Judge George B Daniels of the Southern District Court of New York said that Iran is ordered to pay "$12,500,000 per spouse, $8,500,000 per parent, $8,500,000 per child, and $4,250,000 per sibling" to the families and estates of the deceased. Iran has dismissed the allegations and has merely two days to appeal to the court ruling.

Although the investigation of the attacks on the World Trade Center's twin towers revealed that the two airplanes were hijacked by a group consisting of Saudis, Egyptians, Lebanese and citizens of the UAE. The commission investigating the terror attack failed to find any evidence proving that Iran had helped the terror group.

US Starts Training Terrorists in Al-Tanf Base in Southern Syria

The US Army troops, including a hundred marines that have just arrived in the region, have started training terrorists in the US-run al-Tanf base in Southern Homs, an Arab media outlet reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language Qatar 21 news website quoted commander of Maqawir al-Thowrah terrorist group, affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), as disclosing that the US marines have launched training his forces in al-Tanf base at border with Iraq.

The website further said that a large volume of the US's military equipment has also arrived in al-Tanf.

News sources had announced last week that over a hundred US marines were dispatched to Syria to implement a drill using real ammo.

On Sunday, over 100 US Marines were sent as reinforcements to the military base in al-Tanf in Syria after Russia allegedly revealed intentions of launching precision strikes on an area under the US-led coalition’s control.

While the official statement by the Pentagon did not mention that the reinforcements had been sent as a precautionary measure to the alleged threats, chief Central Command spokesman, Captain William Urban, said that the troops flown to the area would conduct multiday drills using live ammunition, Task & Purpose reported.

“Our forces will demonstrate the capability to deploy rapidly, assault a target with integrated air and ground forces and conduct rapid exfiltration,” Task & Purpose cited him as saying.

According to the report, US officials tackling the Syria issue have recently claimed that “the administration is now resolved to stay in Syria longer than President Donald Trump previously indicated”, purportedly referring to POTUS’s March speech, when he suggested that the United States would leave the war-torn country “very soon”.

The news came on the heels of a CNN report about Moscow’ s alleged warnings of an impending attack on militants in the area protected by US troops.

The media outlet’s report also claimed that US Defense Secretary James Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford were aware of the latest intelligence, adding that US troops in Syria “have the right of self-defense if they are attacked and would not need to ask permission from higher levels of the government before acting”.

“The United States does not seek to fight the Russians, the government of Syria or any groups that may be providing support to Syria in the Syrian civil war. However, the United States will not hesitate to use necessary and proportionate force to defend US, coalition or partner forces,” CNN quoted an anonymous insider.

The Russian Ministry of Defense hasn’t commented on the claims so far.

Slightly over a week ago, Syrian government forces captured two militants near Palmyra, claiming that they were members of the Lions of the East group, the Russian Defense Ministry announced. They also confessed that they had been trained and armed by American instructors in a camp near the al-Tanf military base.

Following the statement, Sputnik reached out to a spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve who dismissed the aforementioned allegations as “malign propaganda”, adding that “there is no terrorist camp within the al-Tanf de-confliction zone, which runs in a 55k diameter around the Coalition’s al-Tanf Garrison”.

The US-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against what it referred to as Daesh targets in Syria without either a UN mandate or Damascus’ authorization. Currently, some 2,000 US troops are said to be deployed in the war-ravaged country. The Syrian government considers their presence illegal. Syrian authorities, meanwhile, officially asked Russia to assist the country’s forces in fighting terrorist groups operating on the territory of the Mideast country.

US Shuttering PLO Offices Part of Plan ‘to End Palestine Altogether’

When the US announced Monday it would be closing the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Washington, DC, offices, it did so under the aegis of forwarding the Trump administration’s peace plan for the Middle East. One historian told Radio Sputnik Tuesday that the real goal was “to bring about an end to Palestine altogether.”

"[T]he PLO has not taken steps to advance the start of direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel," said US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert in a statement Monday. "To the contrary, PLO leadership has condemned a US peace plan they have not yet seen and refused to engage with the US government with respect to peace efforts and otherwise."

"The Trump administration will not keep the office open when the Palestinians refuse to take steps to start direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel," US National Security Adviser John Bolton said Monday.

But historian Richard Becker, author of "Palestine, Israel and the US Empire," told Radio Sputnik's By Any Means Necessary Tuesday that there is "no question" US President Donald Trump and his administration are moving far away from any real negotiation, and proceeding to the imposition stage that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be pursuing.

Just like Trump's announcement in December 2017 that the US would recognize Jerusalem as the "eternal capital of Israel," was justified as making peace talks easier by taking the city "off the table," Becker told hosts Eugene Puryear and Sean Blackmon that "this is one more step in what appears to be a plan to end Palestine, to bring about an end to Palestine altogether."

Al-Moallem: the US uses chemical weapons as pretext to justify aggression on Syria

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem stressed that the US is using chemical weapons as a pretext to justify aggression against Syria.

Al-Moallem said in an interview given to al-Hayat international magazine and published today that it is not the first time the pretext of chemical weapons has been used to justify US aggression against Syria, reiterating that Syria does not possess any chemical weapons.

Minister al-Moallem noted that the staging of fabricated chemical attack and the attempt of blaming the Syrian state for committing it became easy as the “White Helmets” organization has been formed by the British security apparatus and funded by several western countries to serve this purpose and create such scenarios.

In response to a question about the US and its allies’ goals in Syria, al-Moallem noted that the U.S. goals are not related to the US only, rather they are Israeli goals which Washington is implementing in Syria, adding that the US does not want Syria to be the main state in resisting the Israeli entity or to have strategic relations with Iran and Russia.

Regarding the crisis settlement in Syria, he declared that halting foreign intervention in the Syrian affair supports the political settlement to the crisis in the country, indicating that once these foreign interventions are completely halted, dialogue will be a Syrian one among the Syrians which, in turn, will reflect on the success of the political process.

On preparations for a new Syrian constitution, the minister said that the project is still in its early stages with focus laid on reaching an accord regarding the formation of a constitutional committee whose main mission is to prepare a new constitution.

He said that there is not a unified opposition in Syria; rather, there are different groups whose activities depend on the place of residence of their leaders in western or Arab capitals and whose stances are mainly based on the desire of the hosting states.

Al-Moallem noted that the opposition does not have the choice to make decisions independently and its dialogue with the Syrian government is not built on its own desires and interests.

He underlined the importance of Astana process since it is totally different from Geneva talks in terms of its track and prospects and has contributed to de-escalating tension in various Syrian areas and reaching agreements on some other areas, the last of which is Idleb.

The minister also highlighted the key role of Sochi as part of making Geneva process a success as the city hosted an extended and positive national dialogue that was crowned with tangible results.

Al-Moallem called upon all Syrians who were displaced due to terrorism to return to Syria and take part in the reconstruction process of their country, stressing the government’s efforts to provide all requirements and ensure a decent life for all.

He said that Syria has relied on its friends, Iran and Russia, and they will be given the priority in the reconstruction process, in addition to a number of friendly states like China, India, Malaysia, Brazil and South Africa which expressed their desire to be part of the rebuilding process in Syria.

On Syria’s relations with Arab states and whether it is welling to return to the Arab League, al-Moallem said that the Arab League lost the shape it was established for in 1945, adding that Syria is not interfering in the internal affairs of other Arab states and has never participated in destroying the infrastructure of any state.

Idlib Terrorists Kidnapping Kids to be Slaughtered for Snuff Video

Idlib terrorists have been busy kidnapping civilians, kidnapping children, kidnapping as many non-terrorists as they can to commit another mass slaughter. The intention — beyond their Captagon-fueled bloodlust and criminal insanity — is what it has always been: To create snuff porn as the cover story for the war whoring leadership of US, UK, and France to criminally bomb Syria, again.

A bit of advice to the self-proclaimed independent authors who use the filthy language of Newspeak in your writing: Stop it. Stop it right now. No amount of propitiation of the paid pimps of war will get you a Pulitzer. Your groveling use of incorrect language makes you look pathetic, and certainly does nothing to bring the truth to your reading audiences.

Those who take up arms and murder civilians, law enforcement, and military in any country are terrorists. They are not “moderate opposition,” “opposition,” “militants” or “extremists.” They are mass murderers. Terrorists have no more authority to arrest than any other criminal gang; would you dare to write that the Mafia, the Russian mob, the Colombian drug cartel has “arrested” more than one thousand young men?

Idlib terrorists may be divided into multiple factions. This is irrelevant, as they are all violent criminals, committed to the destruction of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Russia, Iran, Turkey planning to hold global conference on Syrian refugees

UNITED NATIONS, September 11. /TASS/. Russia, Iran and Turkey are planning to convene an international conference on the return of Syrian refugees, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said on Tuesday at a UN Security Council meeting dedicated to the results of the September 7 summit of the three nations’ leader in Teheran.

"A major item on the summit’s agenda was discussion of efforts to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons. We are convinced that an international conference Russia, Iran and Turkey are planning to convene will make a big contribution to these efforts," he said, adding that the Syrian government has guaranteed security to returning refugees.

"One of the major results of the Teheran summit is that its participants unanimously recognized the efficiency and topicality of the Astana format," he said. "Russia, Iran and Turkey have demonstrated, not on paper but in real life, that they can find compromise solutions in the most difficult situations. It was agreed in Teheran that such joint efforts will be continued and expanded on a wide range of Syria-related problems."

Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Hassan Rouhani of Iran and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey held their third summit meeting on Syrian settlement in Tehran on September 7. They agreed to continue efforts to protect civilians and improve the humanitarian situation in Syria. They also agreed that the process of wording Syria’s new constitution should be simplified to ensure its soonest adoption. They decided to have another trilateral high-level meeting on Syrian settlement in Russia.

Nuclear Power Plants At Risk Of Direct Hit By Hurricane Florence

North and South Carolina nuclear power plants are in line for a possible direct hit from Hurricane Florence.

According to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), there are twelve operating nuclear power plants in the Carolinas that make electricity by the continuous splitting of uranium atoms (i.e., a nuclear reaction). These plants generally reside near a body of water—a river, lake, estuary or ocean—because they require a constant source of water for cooling purposes. Without cooling water, a nuclear reactor will overheat, leading to core damage, containment failure, and release of harmful radiation into the environment.

US incites Kurds to break promise, assault Iranian soil: Top commander

Iran’s top military commander says the United States has been provoking terrorists based in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region over the past year to launch assaults on Iranian soil despite an earlier promise not to do so.

Speaking on Tuesday, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri referred to a missile strike by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRCG) at a gathering of terrorists in Kurdistan, saying the Iranian nation reserves the right to defend itself.

Over two decades ago, officials from Iraqi Kurdistan and the outlawed Kurdistan Democratic Party had “made a written commitment not to conduct operations in Iran, but they have been breaking that promise over the past year due to US provocations,” he said.

“This was not acceptable to us and thus we repeatedly cautioned them,” he added.

The IRGC issued a statement confirming that it had fired seven short-range surface-to-surface missiles at a gathering of terrorist commanders in Kurdistan on Saturday, dealing a heavy blow to them.

The terrorists, the statement read, had been seeking to create insecurity and carry out acts of sabotage in the Iranian provinces of West Azarbaijan, Kordestan and Kermanshah.

The Iranian general said that the Iraqi government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) should not allow the establishment of such anti-Iran bases and rather extradite the remnants of “criminal” elements to Iran or deport them.

If insecurity persists, Baqeri warned, more counter-measures would be taken against terrorist commanders in self defense.

Iranian forces reached all their goals in the missile attack, he said. "It is not coincidental that the missiles hit the meeting, and we hope that we will not need to repeat this.”

‘No appeasement policy’

Separately on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that Iran will not follow a policy of appeasement when it comes to its security issues and the violation of its sovereignty by terrorist elements.

The missile strike has not been and will not be “Iran’s optimal choice. But terrorist activities - especially those that resulted in the martyrdom of Iranian border guards and soldiers - left the Iranian armed forces with no choice but to take a retaliatory and deterrent measure based on the credible information it had received.”

He also expressed hope that the joint border with Iraq would be among the most secure and stable frontiers in the region.
