BOSTON, N.M. (KRQE) - A Boston man was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years for plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on New Mexico State University.

Alexander Ciccolo pleaded guilty to terrorism charges in May.

According to court documents, in 2015, the 23-year-old planned to use a cache of weapons to attack NMSU students in the dorms and cafeteria and said he would execute students live on the internet.

It was his father, a Boston police captain, who tipped off the FBI, saying his son had a long history of mental illness and had become obsessed with Islam.
