I think they just picked the name "Voat" because "Voting" is the main function of social bookmarking platforms, and they just wanted to be edgy and spell it weird. Then sites always try to choose some cute little mascot, and Voat obviously lends itself to a Goat.
I mean, all sites are somewhat COMPD. There's even a lot of signs that leadership around here is compd and may even include Tracy Diaz and Pamphlet Anon, who are the reason that Q left 4 chan.
So yeah.
