It is beautiful. It is a reliquary crucifix…Not rare, but not commonly seen now-a-days. That is a well-preserved one!
The "scrolling" is just decorative.
And it's actually 'Angus Dei' ,for sure, which means 'Lamb of God'; the 'Angus Dei' is among the oldest, if not a somewhat obscure, sacramentals of the Church.
