RR was put in place because he was seen by the left as a savior (see Senate CONF vote). However, POTUS had him strategically placed as DAG knowing Mueller would come attacking him. Now, POTUS just needs to demonstrate all of the bias and illegal activities against him and his campaign (FISA DECLAS is the start) and then RR is forced to resign/recuse since he was involved. Then, WRAY becomes the overseer of the RR investigation as the next in command. Wray then has the investigation shut down since it was fruit of the poison tree and further corruption against POTUS.

Boom, POTUS and campaign are shown to be squeaky clean, and the cabal is shown to be covered in swamp juice.
