The "strange flying" is undoubtedly a radar artifact or faulty data. A plane does not fly level, then suddenly change altitude with no transition, then fly level again.
If they are having an in-flight 7700 emergency, maybe there is something wrong with their radar transponder or their electrical system. The radar track is not credible.
