That said, you are right that UL isn't the only entity recognized in the US. The generic term is "Nationally Recognized Testing laboratory" or NRTL. UL is a NRTL. So is Factory Mutual (FM).

 

I doubt these meters lack NRTL approval. Somebody give meter details, maker and model, otherwise I call BS on the claim "no UL (or equiv) mark"

Could be a distribution system pressure regulating valve allowing high pressure to be delivered to consumer, and consumer's gas train can't handle the pressure.
