Willie Nelson Is Playing A Rally For Democrat Beto O’Rourke And Some Of His Fans Are NOT Happy

Willie Nelson is very popular in Texas but he has definitely expressed left leaning tendencies over the years. It’s understandable that some of his conservative fans would be disappointed about this but is it really all that surprising?

Willie Nelson fans furious over announcement that he’ll headline a rally for a Dem candidate

Willie Nelson fans are upset with the singer over the news that he’s not only supporting a Democratic Senate contender, but is headlining a rally in Texas for him.

Nelson announced on his Facebook page that he’ll be headlining the Turn Out For Texas rally for candidate Beto O’Rourke, who is running against Sen. Ted Cruz.

As Austin360 reported, Nelson brought O’Rourke on stage during his Fourth of July Picnic summer concert. Now he’s doubling down on his support by joining Joe Ely, Carrie Rodriguez, Tameca Jones and his two sons, Lukas and Micha Nelson, at the Sept. 29 rally.

“My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed,” Nelson said in the press release provided to the outlet. “Beto embodies what is special about Texas, an energy and an integrity that is completely genuine.”

It sounds like people are taking this pretty seriously:

“If that’s true im done after 45 years with the Red Headed Stranger, by [sic] Willy,” one user commented on the Facebook announcement.

“Willie I have always loved you and I played your music on the local country station when I was in high school. I’ve always thought you were a patriot but you have jumped the shark my friend,” another user commented. “Beto O’toole aka commrade O’Rourke is a step too far. Let me know when you come back from your bad acid trip. That is all.”

“I adored you – and always have – but no more. This is more than sad – I am devastated. Did you forget you are in Texas? Dear God I will pray for you to open your eyes. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO CANCEL THAT GIG,” another impassioned fan wrote.

The bottom line is that you don’t have to agree with a musician’s politics to enjoy their music. It’s a little bit of a downer if you like Willie but it’s not a total shock if you’ve been following Willie.

But in the wake of reports that the US nearly supported a military uprising against the socialist government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the Chinese Communist Party has apparently changed its mind. Instead of tightening the leash, Beijing has offered a $5 billion loan to the struggling socialist "republic" as Maduro prepares to travel to Beijing to grovel before the Party bosses, according to a Bloomberg report.

Resistance Hero Ruth Bader Ginsburg Slams ‘Highly Partisan’ Kavanaugh Hearings

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg made her disapproval known regarding the “highly partisan show” that took place during confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh.

Speaking at the George Washington University Law School, Justice Ginsburg told students that “the way it was, was right. The way it is, is wrong.” She called the “atmosphere” of her 96-3 voted confirmation “truly bipartisan.”

“The vote on my confirmation was 96-3, even though I had spent about 10 years of my life litigating cases under the auspices of the ACLU,” she explained. “No senator asked me any questions — not about that.”

Ginsburg offered another example, in memory of the late Justice Anton Scalia: “Think of Justice Scalia, who’s certainly a known character in, what was it? 1986,” she said, continuing:

The vote was unanimous, every Democrat and every Republican voted for him. That’s the way it should be, instead of what it’s become, which is a highly partisan show. The Republicans move in lockstep, and so do the Democrats. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have it go back to the way it was.

Despite the contentious nature of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings — complete with allegations of perjury — he is expected to gain more than the 50 votes needed for confirmation.

Ginsburg will be portrayed by actress Felicity Jones in a new biopic that will premier on Christmas Day, 2018.

Chelsea Clinton: Would Be ‘Unchristian’ to Return to Time Before Legal Abortion

Thursday during an interview with SiriusXM’s “Signal Boost,” former first daughter Chelsea Clinton said it would be “unchristian” to return to a “pre” Roe v. Wade time, meaning before abortion was legal in the United States.

Clinton said, “I look at my children and I have to quote Jim Yong Kim, ‘optimism is a moral choice.’ Every day I make the moral choice to be optimistic. That my efforts and my energies, particularly when I’m fortunate enough to be in partnership with kinda fellow travelers, hopefully will make a difference.”

She added, “And when I think about all of the statistics that are painful of what women are confronting today in our country, and what even more women confronted pre-Roe and how many women died and how many more women were maimed because of unsafe abortion practices, we just can’t go back to that. Like that’s unconscionable to me, and also, I’m sure that this will unleash another wave of hate in my direction, but as a deeply religious person, it’s also unchristian to me.”
