I grew up in Haverhill and the tunnels stretch all the way from there to Lawrence and even way further. My father said when they built the new rail lines they entombed the olds ones below but didn't demolish them. Him and his brothers used to sneak in them as teenagers and drink and fool around before they completely sealed them all. But he said they were never demolished completely and he always wondered what fuckery was going on there.
