Dozens of people who used to work for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and a number of Clinton initiatives went on to work at Google, and vice-versa.

At least twelve employees from the Clinton Global Initiative, the Clinton Foundation, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative went on to work for Google, while at least fifteen Google employees went on to work for Hillary For America. The list was originally developed by Adam Townsend on Twitter.

Peter Albers, former Finance and Operations Director at the Clinton Foundation, before moving to Google Fiber as Head of Partnerships and Market Development in 2015. In 2017, he became Google’s Global Head of Business Development and Head of Americas Retail Partnerships for Google Play Retail.

Shannon Jones Newberry, former Deputy Director of Communications at the Clinton Global Initiative, before becoming Communications and Public Affairs Manager at Google in 2012.

Jeff Lawi, a former analyst at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, before joining Google in 2013 where he has held a number of positions, including Product Support Manager, Senior Product Support Manager, and Principal, Strategy, and Business Operations.

Nathan Allen, a former consultant at the Clinton Foundation, before becoming a Senior Creative Producer and Launch Manager at Google in 2015. Allen is currently an Executive Producer at Google.

Puiyan Leung, a former consultant for the Clinton Foundation through Stern Consulting Corps. Leung had been an intern at Google before serving as a consultant for the Clinton Foundation, and he returned to Google in 2013 as a financial analyst, before becoming a program manager in 2015. Leung left Google to work for Facebook in 2016.

Felicia Yep Salinas, former Employment and Labor Commitment Maker at the Clinton Global Initiative before joining Google in 2015 as a Talent Hacker. She then became a Technical Sourcer in 2016, before moving to Facebook months later.

John Lyman, according to the website for GV where he now works, “helped launch the Clinton Global Initiative,” worked as Deputy Chairperson, and focused on “progressive policy and advocacy,” before joining Google for “a decade” where he served as Head of Partnerships and Marketing for Google for Entrepreneurs.

Scot Frank, a former mentor at the Clinton Global Initiative, joined Google as a product manager in 2014.

Theodore Przybyla, former Working Group Manager at the Clinton Global Initiative, joined Google as an engagement manager in 2015, before leaving for the Brookings Institution in September 2017.

Justin Pang, former Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, joined Google in 2012. Having served as Strategic Partner Lead of Global Partnerships and Team Lead of Global Partnerships, he is currently the Head of Partnerships.

Maria Wang-Faulkner, former Country Support Manager at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, joined Google as a Strategic Partner Manager in 2016, and currently serves as Strategic Partner Development Manager for Google Assistant.

Paul Lee, a former consultant for the Clinton Foundation, joined Google in 2007 as a Senior Product Manager, before leaving in 2015.

Stephanie Hannon, former Group Product Manager at Google, left the company in 2011 before becoming a Product Manager at Facebook in 2012. Hannon then moved back to Google in 2013 as a Director of Product Management for just over two years, before she became the Chief Technology Officer for Hillary For America in April 2015.

Osi Imeokparia, former Product Management Director at Google, left the company in 2015 to become Chief Product Officer at Hillary For America. Imeokparia currently works at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which is owned by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan.

Derek Parham, former Technical Lead of Google Apps, joined Hillary For America in 2016 as Deputy Chief Technology Officer.

Salvini: Italy on Britain’s Side in Brexit Negotiations, EU has Anti-Democratic Habits, Desire to Punish

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Matteo Salvini, has announced that Italy is on the British people’s side in the Brexit negotiations, criticising the EU’s anti-democratic habits and desire to punish, in a BBC HARDtalk interview with Stephen Sackur.

“Now, there’s been a great effort led by Michel Barnier, who’s the chief [European] Commission negotiator on Brexit, to keep and maintain European unity, and yet you have said recently that you think — and I’m using your words — is trying to swindle the UK out of the Brexit that it voted for. What did you mean by that?” demanded the BBC anchor, appearing to play the bloc’s part.

“On more than one occasion in the past — don’t forget the European Constitution when citizens voted against the wishes of Brussels and they made citizens vote again until they got what they wanted — there is typically an attempt on the part of Brussels to punish,” explained the populist firebrand, who leads one half of Italy’s new coalition government.

“They are not negotiating, they want to punish a government and a people that voted against their expectations. If you sit at a negotiating table, you have to start with some political goodwill. If you start out with the idea of punishing or attacking, you’re not going to be a good negotiator,” Salvini added

“So, I guess the specific question for you is, will Italy, the Italian government, encourage France and Germany to be more flexible, and to make real concessions to the UK?” pressed Sackur.

“Yes. I think the people’s mandate must be followed,” the Italian replied simply.

“We have to foster good relations and nobody should be punished. The Italian government is on the side of the British government, in our mutual interest.”

While it is not much mentioned in the Remain-leaning broadcast media or left-liberal press, which tends to present the European Union as a strong and united front, Italy is not the only country which is keen to see the Brexit vote respected and a proper free trade agreement arranged.

Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó has stressed that a ‘No Deal’ Brexit would be a “nightmare scenario” for the EU, with European countries losing ground in the British market as London strikes new global trade deals.

Jarosław Kaczyński, who leads Poland’s ruling Law and Justice Party, has also indicated that there are two camps fighting it out within the European Union; some wishing to makes things “as tough as possible” for Britain, others wishing to see a very close partnership — with Poland belonging to the latter category.

Russian suspects’ claims over spy attack spark mockery in UK

London (AFP) – An interview by two men accused by London of poisoning a former Russian spy in Salisbury has prompted mockery and derision on social media — led by Britain’s foreign minister.

Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov denied being members of Russian military intelligence, telling the Kremlin-backed RT news network they were in the English city purely as tourists.

“The last time Russian military claimed to be on holiday was when they invaded Ukraine in 2014,” Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt tweeted.

Salisbury Cathedral, a landmark the pair said they had wanted to visit, used the opportunity for a little promotion, tweeting a picture of its famous spire, “the tallest in Britain”.

In the Daily Telegraph newspaper, cartoonist Matt depicted three men in classic spy outfits on a Moscow bridge with the caption: “You went to Salisbury cathedral and you didn’t bring us back a keyring or a bookmark?”

One Twitter wag posted a picture of door handles, with the caption: “Salisbury Cathedral gift shop announces range of souvenirs.”

The Russians are accused of putting the nerve agent Novichok on the front door handle of former double agent Sergei Skripal in the poisoning attack on March 4.

He and his daughter Yulia became seriously ill, while a police officer on the case was also hospitalised.

They all recovered but a fake perfume bottle containing Novichok was picked up by a local man. He gave it his girlfriend, who later died.

British police say the two Russians flew into London from Moscow and made two short day-trips to Salisbury on the Saturday and Sunday before flying home from Heathrow airport.

The Mueller Investigation Is Sending People to Jail—but Not for Collusion

The belief that George Papadopoulos, Michael Cohen, and Paul Manafort would turn over evidence of collusion with Russia got ahead of reality.

he anonymous government official who revealed a “resistance” inside the White House has heightened the sense of doom hanging over Donald Trump’s presidency. A stream of disparaging claims from other White House insiders, the multiple criminal cases enveloping Trump’s inner circle, and the ongoing special-counsel investigation into possible collusion with the Russian government have all also added to anticipation of Trump’s imminent downfall. But the widespread perception that “the walls are closing in”; on a “ “teetering” Trump presidency is getting ahead of reality. While figures eyed as central to the suspected Trump-Russia conspiracy—campaign volunteer George Papadopoulos, longtime fixer Michael Cohen, and campaign manager Paul Manafort—have been convicted of criminal activity, their cases have not bolstered the case for collusion as many liberals had hoped.

Last week, Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days in prison for lying to the FBI about the timing of his contacts with a Maltese professor, Joseph Mifsud. According to Papadopoulos, Mifsud claimed to have connections to Russia and information that the Kremlin had obtained Hillary Clinton’s stolen e-mails. In May 2016, Papadopoulos relayed vague details about his conversation with Mifsud to Australian diplomat Alexander Downer. According to press accounts, a tip from Downer about his encounter with Papadopoulos sparked the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation into alleged Trump-Russia ties.

Because Papadopoulos may have purportedly heard about stolen e-mails before their public release, he has been widely scouted as “Exhibit A” for a Trump-Kremlin conspiracy, part of a “secret channel through which the Russian government was able to communicate with the Trump campaign as it stole Democratic emails and weaponized them to help Trump win the presidency,” according to James Risen of The Intercept. In the end, Papadopoulos did not fill that role. According to special counsel Robert Mueller’s sentencing memo, Papadopoulos “did not provide ‘substantial assistance’” during his interviews in August and September of 2017. But in remarks made after his sentencing, Papadopoulos says that “I did my best…and offered what I knew.” It is not a surprise that he did not have much to offer. Not only did the Trump campaign rebuff Papadopoulos’s proposals to set up meetings with Russian officials, Papadopoulos now says that “I never met with a single Russian official in my life.”

No progress as US, Cuba meet on mysterious ‘health attacks’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Cuba said Thursday the United States is continuing to withhold important information that could help in the investigation into mysterious incidents that have injured some two dozen Havana-based American diplomats, including some with brain damage, since late 2016.

After meeting with U.S. officials at the State Department, members of a team Cuba assembled to look into the incidents said their requests for patient records and other information had again been rebuffed and rejected anew after Washington’s assertions that the injuries were caused by targeted attacks.

“The Cuban side is completely unable to support the hypothesis of health attacks and brain damage as reported by the State Department,” said Dr. Mitchell Valdes Sosa, chief of the group of Cuban scientists and physicians. “Nothing was presented that could add up to sustain such a thing.”

The Cuban delegation renewed calls for the State Department to release to it specific medical records and other data about the victims in order for it to be studied.

It also repeated demands that Washington stop referring to the cause of the symptoms as “health attacks” in the absence of definitive proof and denounced reports citing U.S. officials as saying that investigators may be narrowing their suspicions about the cause and culprit behind them.

“The State Department has been treating theories as if they were facts,” said Johana Tablada, a senior Cuban diplomat who led the team.

Thursday’s meeting was held as American authorities search for answers into mysterious “health attacks” that began two years ago in Havana and amid growing frustration among national security agencies and members of Congress about the lack of answers on what and who caused the injuries.

Recent reports have suggested investigators are focusing on the possibility that some sort of microwave device may be responsible and that Russia, which has long had close ties with Cuba, is the leading suspect for the attacks.

The State Department, however, has denied that any conclusions had been drawn.

“We still don’t know the cause, we still don’t know what or who is responsible for health attacks that took place that affected our personnel in Cuba,” spokeswoman Heather Nauert told reporters on Thursday.

She did not address a Cuban request for “a dispassionate examination of health reports of U.S. diplomats in Cuba according to the rules of science” but said the meeting would “involve private medical information that is coming forth from some of our people.”

FBI Won't Investigate Sexual Misconduct Allegation Against Kavanaugh

Update: According to the Washington Post, The FBI won't investigate the allegations lodged against Kavanaugh, so he'll simply be tainted with the spectre of a nebulous accusation for the rest of his career.

According to a person familiar with the matter, the FBI does not now plan to launch a criminal investigation of the matter, which would normally be handled by local authorities, if it was within the statute of limitations. The FBI instead passed the material to the White House, as an update to Kavanaugh's background check, which already had been completed, the person said. The move is similar to what the bureau did when allegations were leveled against former White House aide Rob Porter.

An FBI official said, "Upon receipt of the information on the night of September 12, we included it as part of Judge Kavanaugh's background file, as per the standard process."

The Justice Department declined to comment, and Kavanaugh did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Earlier, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) dismissed the controversy on Twitter. “Let me get this straight: this is [a] statement about [a] secret letter regarding a secret matter and an unidentified person. Right,” he tweeted sarcastically.

“I will add: the FBI already performed and has reported on a background investigation on the nominee and this has been made available to all Senators on the Judiciary Committee,” Cornyn wrote.

After Feinstein released her statement, Grassley spokesman George Hartmann said there is “no plan to change the committee’s consideration of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination.”
