6 HOUR LONG BLAST OF MICROWAVE ENERGY DIRECTED OVER HURRICANE FLORENCE LOWERS STORM FROM A CATEGORY 4 TO A CATEGORY 2 EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
Morphed Integrated Microwave Imagery (MIMIC), a Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) project conducted by the Space Science and Engineering Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison is a research program using a data-blending technique that combines disparate swaths of microwave observations from polar orbiting satellites in order to create near-seamless animations of advecting radiance features. Microwave bursts from the polar satellites orbiting the Earth can be adjusted (increased or decreased) as well as directed.
