The first significant push back against the UN, and one of the most egregious examples of "fake news" used to destroy an enemy of the deep state involved the John Birch Society. The founder, Robert Welch was attacked mercilessly as a "wing nut", and the organization as "extreme far right".
The organization actually gained quite a bit of traction which was profoundly troubling to the deep state. So troubling that when Georgia elected Larry McDonald, the president of the JBS to congress, the fear was so great that he would be a catalyst that they pulled one of the most egregious political assassinations of all time, the shoot down of KAL 007 on September 1st 1983.
McDonalds murder at the hands of a Russian fighter pilot came at the cost of another 268 innocent lives being lost as "collateral damage". Business as usual for the globalists.
