Many years back SOHO wiped the data revolving around an object near the sun. Shortly after the object passed the Sun its activity intensified. My word, it must have been ten years ago.
Other visits to the Vatican Observatory and the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) at Mt. Graham, Arizona, USA.
We are limited by our small staff and restricted quarters when it comes to hosting groups of visitors. Our telescope in Arizona is in a protected Forest Service area, and the offices and telescopes in Castel Gandolfo are in the Pope's private summer home and gardens, which are reserved for his private use. Visits to the Observatory are not possible while the Pope is in residence.
Visitors who wish to see the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope on Mt. Graham in Arizona are directed to the tours organized by Discovery Park in Safford (http://www.eac.edu/discoverypark/mgio.shtm). These visits occur on Saturdays during the seasons when the road to the telescopes are passable.
