I live in a town of 2000 in Iowa farm country. Not the best place to be but not the worst either.
Cool. I'm 60 miles from the nearest large city and 15 miles from a 4 lane highway. Relatively speaking not TOO bad of a location. I used to live right on the 4 lane highway and that was 30 miles from the city. Not that good of a place IMHO.
Overall the midwest is good.
