i totally agree with you, just think he means mainstream medical researchers, not alternative, complementary, etc., but the kind that get gov funding
i don't know who's died, need to look into that
i know several (legal) spanish speaking families, parents came, their English is not great but good enough, and they refused to teach their kids spanish because they did not want them to get involved with gangs and thought the language barrier would help (they later moved to better areas but that was the reason when the kids were young and they were in less safe neighborhoods)
