Social Media blamed for India's poor Air Force Pilots -

Indian pilots lack sleep as social media use keeps them up – Air Force Chief

In the war for a good night’s sleep, India’s top air force official has called for the service to develop a system to assess how well rested their pilots are before they fly. “Long hours” on social media are to blame.

“Everybody appears to be spending long hours on social media, late nights,” Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa told the 57th Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine conference in Bengaluru on Friday.

“Most flight briefings, sometimes, are as early as 6 am and pilots haven’t had enough sleep,” he added, according to Indian news agency PTI.

Careful what you wish for:

ThinkProgress gets censored by Facebook fact-checkers

Left-wing opinion site ThinkProgress has found itself censored by Facebook’s ‘fact checkers,’ just weeks after calling on the social network to censor right-wing polemicist Alex Jones.

A ThinkProgress article on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, published Sunday, was deemed ‘fake news’ by Facebook’s fact checkers. The article itself claimed that Kavanaugh would overturn Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 case guaranteeing Americans the constitutional right to an abortion, based on snippets of Kavanaugh’s legal rulings and speeches.

The ‘fact checkers’ – in this case the conservative-leaning Weekly Standard – evaluated ThinkProgress’ claims and found them to be false. Sure, Kavanaugh made some statements that hinted at his opposition to Roe v Wade, but he never outright said he’d “kill it,” as the article claims.

Very Intresting:

The latest crash was caused by technical difficulties rather than a militant attack, said Naser Mehri, a spokesman for the governor of Farah province, site of the accident.

“The helicopter crashed due to a technical issue, not due to Taliban fire,” Mehri said.

The cause of the crash is being investigated, said a defense ministry official in Kabul, the capital, adding that the helicopter had been transporting Afghan security forces.

Kabul:

The military is actively involved in the attempt to suppress Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan. Security forces are tasked with preventing the Taliban from stepping up and handing over some of their towns back to the state.

Aerial routes are used to bring security personnel to a place where they can easily attack the Taliban. Soon the security forces are able to go to the place where they can go to attack.

That is why a helicopter carrying security personnel has exploded due to a mechanical problem. At least four people, including a driver, were killed in the helicopter.

A spokeswoman for Farah province said, adding that the incident did not occur in the Taliban attack, and that the technical disaster was an accident. #Afghanistan #HelicopterCrash
