Remember the site was part of the White Sands facility once and still probably has some military components. It was passed to the civilian side. The antennas etc will still be potential functional military assets. Q has indicated that the black hats are trying to get communications and command facilities up both to communicate and to trick military units into fighting for them. The Trump/ Q team along with the white hats in the NSA/ CIA/ FBI are swatting these attempts. My guess is someone tried to use the mothballed sunspot assets. It was detected and people were sent in. They were expecting a fight with civilians at risk so the pulled people out. What was seen would have been after the fight. We may never know the magnitude of the fight or how many people on both sides.

There is an intentional decision not to use a cover story or tell the local Sheriff what happened.

The best guess is that they did not know how many people in the town/ astronomy team were connected to the bad actor so they pulled everyone out. The bad actor may have been a high hostage risk.

Also if you were an undercover terrorist/ Black hat and got an evacuation order hinting at a mercury risk would you stay or go. Would you fight or leave with the rest not knowing that there is no mercury leak. How Pi**ed off would you be if you came back to fined all your black hat toys removed, the locks changed and an arresting officer waiting for you to try the lock.

It makes good sense as a white on black military/ police op.
