The Old Testament is a collection of moral stories from a variety of sources and authors. A lot it, retelling of Sumerian, Zoroastrian, and other preexisting, but similar stories. Adapted by the Masorites, which of the 12 groups of Jews in contention for the translation into Hebrew won the job. Wonder why it has a Masoretic flavor.
