I volunteered at a local school for 7 years and witnessed the lowest common denominator. It sickened me, The brightest kids were not challenged or helped but the ones who had no chance at higher learning were taken away from the group for individual work.

Promote the brightest. make them work at a level that will help them. the other thing is, they were mostly taught how to take tests.
