Judah was never called "Jews" in the Bible. The Edomites Hitites Canaanites etc that moved into the land of Judea after Judah and Israel had been carried away captive, they were called Jews because they lived in the land of Judea, not because they were the descendants of Jacob Israel.

It was the religious leadership, the Pharisees, that were the imposters. They (the nethanims who wete the servants of the priests) ursurped the Levitical priesthood when they went into captivity with them Babylon. Naturally they were attracted to the Babylonian mysticism. Hence your talmud and Kabbalah.
The rank-and-file attending the synagogues were probably Israelites and Judahites that kept the testimony of Jesus Christ. See Rev 12:17
