I'm thinking this "red line" is the literal point where the game board is flipped.
Both sides have been doing this mostly behind the scenes, never quite giving up the whole (real) story to the public (en masse, not on 8ch).
There's of course going to be a line over which the "game" can never be put back on–people will know too much to sit by the chess board, it would go to all-out public war.
How could they defend themselves against what is to come out? They'll only have that hopeless 5-6% left.
