what happens in the judiciary committee is almost irrelevant
Senate Judiciary Committee does NOT even have to vote for a SCOTUS nomination to move to full senate for the confirmation vote
-committee vote could be 10-11 against the nominee and still move to full senate
"Senate Judiciary Committee votes on nominee. Committee reports nomination to Full Senate (may be favorable, unfavorable or no recommendation)"
"The last stage at the Judiciary Committee level are public meetings to report a recommendation to the full Senate for consideration. By a majority vote, the committee can report the nomination favorably, report it unfavorably, or report it without making any recommendation at all. It is also possible for the committee to take no action of any type to send a report to the full Senate."
