Deu 11 - 27 recounts all of the commandments God gave to the Israelite before their crossing over the Jordan to occupy the "promised" land of Canaan. The entirety of these chapters were conditional upon their continued obedience to YHVH. They were given the lands b/c of the wickedness of those ppl who had occupied it before them.
In. Chap. 28, however, God laid out the consequences for their disobedience. Beg. with vs. 15 He spells out their doom…
"But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:"
Deu 28:63-63, "63 And it shall come to pass, that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
64 And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone."
He scattered them at the destruction of Jerusalem in 539 BC and again at the double fulfillment of that prophesy in the final destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman army in AD 70.
Josh. 23:15, "Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the Lord your God promised you; so shall the Lord bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the Lord your God hath given you."
Josh 21:43-45, "43 And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
44 And the Lord gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand.
45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass." KJV
God gave them the land, and fulfilled every promise. They broke their promises, and committed every sin against God in their idolatry with the other nations.
Those calling themselves "Jews" today are missappropriating scriptures they use to benefit themselves. Those scriptures no longer apply.
John 4:23, " But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
God doesn't need Jerusalem for anything any more. Under the gospel of Christ we worship in Spirit and in truth, and we don't have to go to Jerusalem to do so.
