Two AZAZ0909 flights in the air. Special Ops are active again.
Am I late to the party with this?
Correction, there are three AZAZ0909 flights up.
Tail numbers are:- 98-00007, 98-00009 and 01-00301.
Davison Army Air Field is the home of Special Ops, as well as the 12th Aviation Batttalion. These planes are on some sort of Delta or Seal Team mission, or are planning such missions. The AZAZ0909 reference must be to uniquely identify these flights from other traffic.
The 12th Aviation Battalion is stationed at Davison Army Airfield at Fort Belvoir, located 12 miles south of the Pentagon. It is the aviation support unit for the Military District of Washington, and operates UH-1 “Huey” and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
The Operational Support Airlift Command at Davison, run by the National Guard since 1995, consolidates the total Army's fixed-wing passenger aircraft in the continental United States.
