If the story is… and this is my understanding of how it's gone down:

Feinstein announced having the letter but wasn't going to name the person. Everyone speculates who the person is and then SHE comes out, herself. Why would she do that? I assume that that Demonrats wanted it to stay anonymous just to taint perception.

Like how Spartacunt released already released documents, knowing he wasn't actually doing anything he could be held accountable for, unlike when he did it the first time.

If it had stayed anonymous, it woulda just been shitty but wouldn't have gotten anyone in trouble and Feinstein could have played it off as "discernment and making the right choice not to move forward with it."

Here's the "what if…"… let's say that Dr. Ford is already known to /ourguys/ from trying this before. Especially if she tried it with Gorsuch…

She could be leveraged/utilized as a mole to feed the Dems crap that's so ridiculous they'd have to be out of their minds to use it, but it's up to them to use it. They have to bring it on themselves, as they keep falling over themselves to do. Once they announced the letter, she was instructed to put her name on it without the Dems being consulted.

Now the Dems are in a pickle. It was never supposed to go this far.
