My technique is to ask just one question that has an obvious answer contrary to what they want their world to be. Then watch the mental gymnastics as they try to rationalize their position. You can see their frustration sometimes as the realize how far out they are going to support their positions. They eventually drop it all together. This I think plants the seed.
