New Billboards In Oklahoma:"People of faith love those who have abortions”

Near Oklahoma City, where Christianity runs strong, eight new billboards have been plastered with messages about abortion that are patently insane. Statements on the billboards include “People of faith love those who have abortions” and “God loves those who have abortions,” according to Tulsaworld.com.

The messages emanate from the pro-abortion group Oklahoma Call for Reproductive Justice; the billboards include the pro-abortion group’s website. The website states:

In nearly every major faith tradition there are circumstances when abortion is an accepted and respected choice. There are even times when it is a mandate. When individuals seek to universally end or limit abortion rights for all women based on a particular understanding of God, faith, or religion, others suffer. Just as some faithful may choose not to end a pregnancy based on an understanding of faith and God, others may choose abortion consistent with the teachings of faith and under the guidance of a loving relationship with God.

The intersection of faith and abortion in Oklahoma is powerful and deserves to be examined in a more honest and inclusive way than what we have witnessed in recent local debate. Anti-choice folks do not represent the only faith perspective on abortion, in fact far from it. In short, we believe you can support abortion rights because of your faith, not in spite of it.

Future of Political Discourse at Stake: Farage Calls for Social Media ‘Bill of Rights’ to End Bias

Nigel Farage has called for a Bill of Rights for social media users after tech giants were exposed for their bias against conservatives.

Mr Farage told the audience in attendance at The New Culture Forum, which was also watched live by some-60,000 on Facebook, on Thursday night in London that the election of Donald Trump as U.S. President, Brexit in the UK, and the rise of the populist Italian government “could not have happened without the use of social media”.

However, it was after the election of President Trump in November 2016 that the owners of the social media platforms that had facilitated the “global revolt” had become a “threat” to the “democratic process”, by practices such as the shadowbanning and censoring of conservatives. A tape leaked to Breitbart News Network last week revealed leftist political bias in the highest echelons of power at tech giant Google and sent shockwaves through the media and tech establishment.

“The reaction that we’ve had from those that own these social media sites pose a threat, in my view, to free speech — indeed the entire democrat process. We have got to stop the bias,” the former UKIP leader said.

“It was the events of the 8th November 2016 when Trump won when the owners of those social media sites began to change their thinking and indeed their practices,” he added, singling out Google, which he termed the “gateway” to information, given it has over 80 percent of internet searches.

“The day after Trump got elected, the biggest internet search engine, the most powerful, important tech company in the world… effectively declared war on the whole populist revolt that was happening across the West,” the MEP said.

Discussing the monopoly of tech firms run by Silicon Valley liberal elites, Mr Farage said: We have fewer than a handful of companies that now control the entire future of our democratic debate across the entire Western world and I think that now has very worrying implications.”

“I do think the issues at stake here are so fundamental and so important we cannot allow the whole future of political discourse… to be held in the hands of two or three people who through their own mouths have shown themselves not to be politically neutral,” he said.

US Pledges $3.3 Billion in Military Aid to Israel, but Cuts Humanitarian Aid to Palestinians

The US House of Representatives passed two separate Israel related bills this week, endorsing what is being described as the largest aid package in American history and the appointment of an international tsar to monitor anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel worldwide.

The military aid package of $3.3 billion will be delivered to Israel over the next year. This figure is likely to increase by an additional $550 million as a result of Congress passing a $716 billion defence bill. A further $1 billion has been set aside for the US weapons stockpiles in Israel, which Israel taps into during escalations of violence against the Palestinians and Lebanon. In 2016, the US agreed to give Israel $38 billion in military aid over 10 years.

The bill passed under the cover of a media blackout and at the same time that President Donald Trump pulled humanitarian aid to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) which provides basic provisions for over five million Palestinian refugees.

In August, the bill officially called the “United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018” passed a Senate vote. Representing what is believed to be the single largest military aid package in American history, according to Mintpress the astronomical sum translates into $23,000 for every Jewish family living in Israel.

In addition to the massive amount that the new legislation promises to the Israeli military, the bill will also mandate NASA to cooperate closely with the Israel Space Agency. The decision has been described as very unusual in light of the Israel’s history of espionage targeting NASA.

The second bill passed by Congress has also been largely overlooked by the media. It calls for a special government envoy to be tasked with monitoring anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel worldwide.

According to the text of the bill –the “Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act of 2017” – the postholder would “serve as the primary advisor to, and coordinate efforts across, the United States government relating to monitoring and combating anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic incitement that occur in foreign countries.” The envoy is expected to be given the rank of an ambassador.

Opponents of the bill have pointed to the problematic nature of it citing the Congress adoption of a definition of anti-Semitism that equates criticism of Israel with racism. It’s feared that the new appointee will clamp down on domestic and international criticism of the Israeli government in a clear attack on free speech.

Man sentenced to 10 years after daughter finds child porn on his phone, turns him in

A Colorado man was sentenced Sept. 14 to more than 10 years in prison, after his daughter discovered child pornography on the repeat sex offender’s cellphone and turned it over to police.

What are the details?

Frank Steven Wietecha Jr., 49, was sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in federal prison by a U.S. District Court judge in Denver, after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography earlier this year.

An investigation of Wietecha was launched in November 2017, when his daughter was using his cellphone and discovered the illicit images. She handed the device over to the authorities, who obtained a search warrant for the phone and several SD cards of Wietecha’s.

Detectives found thousands of images of child erotica and more than 1,000 images of child pornography electronically stored by Wietecha, and analysis of the phone also showed he had used the device to access child pornography websites and to take screenshots of child pornography from his computer screen.

In 2002, Wietecha pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Sexual Exploitation of a Child due to possession of child porn, and was subsequently arrested three times in later years for failing to register as a sex offender.

Wietecha began serving his sentence immediately after his felony conviction last week, and will be required to serve an additional 15 years under supervision following his release.

According to a Justice Department news release on the conviction of Wietecha, U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer said, “Our prosecutors and the FBI leave no stone unturned when it comes to protecting children.

“The FBI remains committed to ensuring those responsible for sexually exploiting innocent children are aggressively investigated and brought to justice,” Troyer said. “This sentence demonstrates that those who possess child pornography will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The age of Wietecha’s daughter was not disclosed in the release.

Last month, a New Mexico man, whose 4-year-old daughter stumbled across child pornography on his phone, was sentenced to just one year behind bars after deputies said he could have been facing up to 93 years in the slammer, according to the Miami Herald.

Andrew Long, the father of two, was busted after the Department of Homeland Security tipped off the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office that he was involved in the possession and distribution of child porn. During the investigation, Long’s wife confessed that she knew about the images and had confronted her husband after their little girl discovered the illicit material.

Long was arrested in 2016 and again in 2017 on multiple felony child porn charges. He pleaded guilty to one charge, the district attorney dropped the other charges and recommended a minimum sentence of 10 years behind bars.

The sheriff’s office told the Herald that the judge not only capped Long’s prison sentence at one year, he would be allowed to visit his children unsupervised and to go on work release. Having credit for time served, he will likely only spend eight more months in jail.

Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen called the sentence for Long “absurd.”

Bannon: Trump Willing to Make Trade War ‘Unbearably Painful’ for China

As Chinese-US trade relations deteriorate, former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon said this week that those economic ties may get worse before they get better, since US President Donald Trump is willing to make the ongoing trade war “unbearably painful” for Beijing.

Trump won't relent in the US-China trade war until reaching "victory," the South China Morning Post reported Friday after interviewing Bannon. Bannon has been notoriously aggressive in his rhetoric against China for years. "We're at economic war with China. It's in all their literature… One of us is going to be a hegemon in 25 or 30 years, and it's gonna be them if we go down this path," Bannon told Prospect in 2017, referring to previous China policies he perceives as lenient.

This week, the Trump White House imposed tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods at a 10 percent rate that's set to rise to 25 percent by the end of 2018. Beijing responded with import duties targeting $60 billion worth of US exports flowing into the Chinese market.

Bannon's version of victory won't be attained until China gives up "unfair trade practices" and the US is able to "re-industrialize America" and regain a strong manufacturing sector, Bannon told the Post.

"Our factories got shipped out of here. Wall Street made a fortune. The private equity made a fortune. Right now, President Trump's focus is on stopping it," according to Bannon.

In Bannon's view, the scope of US tariffs targeting more than $500 billion worth of Chinese goods has been so large that it's caught Beijing "off guard."

"It's not just any tariff. It's tariffs on a scale and depth that is previously inconceivable in US history."

Balkans shouldn’t be forced to choose between Russia and West – Lavrov

Foreign interference into the Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro issues is unacceptable, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister said, adding that the Balkans shouldn’t be made chose either Russia or the West.

Lavrov said that the sides shared a common stance towards the problems that still remain in the Balkans Region.

Hot issues in the region “must be settled on the basis of mutual consent of all the interested parties, with full respect of the opinion of the population of the relevant countries,” the foreign minister said After his meeting with the head of the Bosnian Serb Republic, Milorad Dodik, in Banja Luka.

The line of some external players, who are trying to put the peoples of the Balkan region before the choice – you’re either with the West or with Russia is unacceptable.

Following the several wars in the 1990s and the collapse of Yugoslavia, relations remain tense between the newly-formed states in the Balkans. The most grueling issue is the situation around Kosovo, which unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008 and is still unrecognized by Belgrade.

Last year, Montenegro became the newest member of NATO, despite having a small military, which unable to boost the capabilities of the US-led military alliance in any way. The decision made without a referendum in disregard of the opinion of a large part of the population.

In late September, Macedonia is holding a referendum on changing its name to “North Macedonia” over disagreements with Greece and the possibility for the country to join the EU and NATO. In the run up to the plebiscite, the West has accused Russia of trying to meddle with the vote, but as usual no proof of Moscow’s involvement has been put on the table.

The EU is pressuring Serbia and Montenegro, saying that if they want to be included in the bloc, they should meet certain conditions, including accepting the EU’s anti-Russian foreign policy component.

Lavrov reminded that Russia, together with the US and Europe, was the author of the Dayton Agreement, which put an end to the Bosnian war in 1995, as well as the UN Security Council resolution on the Kosovo settlement in 1999.

“We see no reasons to curb this cooperation (with the West), again turning the Balkans into another bone of contention between Russia and our foreign colleagues,” he said.

Netanyahu: Israel To Deliver ‘Crushing Blow’ To Hezbollah If It uses Its ‘Precision Rockets’

On September 20th, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a “crushing blow” if Hezbollah uses its “precision rockets.”

Netanyahu’s promise came in response to the words of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.

Nasrallah said that despite Israel’s best efforts to prevent Hezbollah from obtaining advanced armaments, the militia possesses “precision and non-precision rockets and weapons capabilities.”

“No matter what you do to cut the route [flow of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah via Syria], the matter is over,” he further commented. He went on to warn Israel of a fate “it has never expected” if Israel launches a war against Lebanon.

Netanyahu lashed out strongly at Hezbollah’s claims: “I heard Hezbollah’s bravado. It came from the same person who said after 2006 [Second Lebanon War] that if he knew what Israel’s response would be to the kidnapping of our three soldiers, he would have thought consider twice whether to do it. So today I suggest that he think not twice but twenty times, because if he confronts us he will get a crushing blow that he cannot even imagine.”

Also on September 20th, at a Yom Kippur War memorial ceremony, Netanyahu also said that Israel will act with full force if war is imposed upon it: “We must make every effort to prevent war, but if it is imposed upon us, we will act with full force against those who would kill us.”

Following the latest Israeli airstrikes on targets in Syria, the Hezbollah leader gave a televised address, mostly talking about the group’s role and future in Syria.

“We will stay there (in Syria) even after the settlement in Idlib. Our presence there is linked to the need and the consent of the Syrian leadership,” Nasrallah said in an address broadcast on Lebanese media on September 19th.

The Hezbollah chief also insisted that “no one can force us out of Syria,” though he suggested they are reducing the size of their commitment of troops due to “the quietness of the fronts and less number of threats.”

Israeli leaders have said they will not allow “game-changing” weapons, such as guided missiles, to reach Hezbollah. Despite their vows, it does appear that Hezbollah has, in fact, received such weapons.

Nasrallah also reiterated the group’s support for Iran, which was hit by US sanctions after Donald Trump withdrew the US from the Iran Nuclear Deal. He also once again objected to Trump’s peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is to be unveiled in September.

As reported by Sputnik, Hezbollah is a Lebanon-based Shia group founded in the 1980s, which has engaged earlier in several military conflicts with Israel. While it is classified as a terrorist organization by the United States and Israel, Hezbollah is recognized as a legitimate political party in Lebanon and enjoys close relations with Iran.

This all follows a rare admission from Israel that it was behind the September 17th attack that downed a Russian IL-20 jet, killing 15 troops.

In the video responding to Nasrallah, Netanyahu also spoke about Israel’s relationship with Russia, referring to the condolences he offered Russia’s President Vladimir Putin Tuesday in a phone call: “On my behalf of and on behalf of the citizens of Israel, I expressed my condolences for the deaths of 15 Russian air crew members whose plane was shot down by Syrian fire. I told him that the root of the problem was Iran’s attempt to use Syrian territory for attacks against Israel and to arm our enemies like Hezbollah. I told him that we have the right to self-defense, and yet it was very important to maintain the security coordination between Israel and Russia. I therefore decided to send the commander of the air force, Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, to Moscow, in order to continue to protect our citizens while maintaining cooperation between the two countries.”
