Bill Maher Pours $2 Million Into Democrat Super PACs Ahead of Midterms
HBO’s Real Time host Bill Maher is throwing his financial support behind House and Senate Democrat super PACs ahead of the fast-approaching midterm elections to the tune of $2 million, according to newly released campaign finance disclosures.
The veteran comedian donated $1 million each to the Senate Majority PAC and House Majority PAC in August, joining the ranks of progressive billionaire George Soros and Newsweb Corporation Chairman Fred Eychaner as the summer’s top Democrat donors.
In a statement released last month, Senate Majority PAC president J.B. Poersch thanked Maher for his support: “We sincerely thank Bill Maher for his generous donation,” Poersch began. “Maher’s attention to our efforts this cycle underscores the building momentum and excitement for Democratic Senate candidates that we continue to see across the country. Every donation we receive is critical to help us ensure victory come Election Day.”
In July, Maher, a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, jokingly urged Republican Utah Senate candidate Mitt Romey to help remove the Commander-in-Chief from the White House. “I would gladly give Romney $1 million tomorrow if he would take over America. Swear to god!” Maher said to the failed presidential candidate. “I will become a Mormon, how about that?”
The Real Time host drew ire after admitting he hoped the United States would suffer an economic downturn, weakening President Trump’s support.

Joe Biden, Jeffrey Katzenberg Team for Beverly Hills Fundraiser for Democrats
Former Vice President Joe Biden and Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg are teaming up for a Beverly Hills fundraiser to shore up cash for Democrats ahead of the midterm election, according to reports.
Slated for October 3, proceeds of $5000-per-plate pow-wow will go towards Biden’s American Possibilities super PAC, tasked with supporting Democrat causes and candidates. According to the former vice president, the fundraising vehicle is aimed at countering “the negativity, the pettiness, the small-mindedness of our politics.”
“It’s time to treat each other with dignity and respect. Not as opponents, but as fellow Americans. Because that’s what we are,” a blurb written by Biden about the PAC reads. “This is a time for big dreams and American possibilities. If that’s what you believe — and you’re ready to help elect folks who believe that, and to support groups and causes that embody that spirit — then I’m asking you to join me today.”
Biden garnered national headlines this week after branding President Donald Trump’s supporters “virulent people” and “dregs of society,” during his speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner on Saturday evening.
“Despite losing in the courts, and in the court of opinion, these forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made,” Biden told attendees.
“This time they—not you—have an ally in the White House. This time they have an ally. They’re a small percentage of the American people—virulent people, some of them the dregs of society,” the 2020 hopeful added.
Reports of the Biden-Katzenberg gathering come just days before Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is set to hold a fundraiser on September 25 with comedian Jimmy Kimmel and DJ Khaled. Proceeds of the event will benefit Garcetti’s Midterm Victory Fund, supporting Democrat candidates running in the midterm elections. According to reports, the PAC hopes to bring in “at least $1 million, or $100,000 for each of 10 state Democratic party organizations.”

62M Immigrants and Their U.S.-Born Children Now Reside in America
There are now an unprecedented nearly 62 million immigrants and their United States-born children residing in the country, new analysis from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds.
Newly released analysis from CIS researchers based on Census Bureau data reveals that there are about 61.6 million immigrants and their U.S.-born children — given birthright citizenship — living across the country. There were 17.1 million U.S.-born minor children of immigrants in the country as of 2017.
Immigrants and their U.S.-born children now represent about one in five residents in America, a population that is expected to increase should current legal immigration levels continue unchanged and uncontrolled.
The U.S. is nearly alone in granting birthright citizenship to the children of foreign nationals. For example, the U.S. and Canada are the two only developed nations with birthright citizenship. On the other hand, countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, and Germany all have either outlawed birthright citizenship or never had such a policy to begin with.
Between 2010 and 2017, about 9.5 million immigrants resettled in the U.S. The total foreign-born population is now 44.5 million, a 108-year record high, making up nearly 14 percent of the total country’s population.
In 1970, the total foreign-born population was 9.5 million.
Every year, the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million immigrants. By 2023, CIS researchers estimate that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

The line of Trump supporters attending the President’s rally in Springfield, Missouri, is two miles long according to a report from police and a local reporter. President Trump is scheduled to speak around 6:30 p.m. CDT at the JQH Arena located on the campus of Missouri State University. Reports state supporters started lining up early in the morning with one claiming to have been in line since Thursday night. Other reports state upwards of 20,000 people were in line for the 11,000 capacity venue.
