Immigration Judges’ Union Accuses Jeff Sessions Of Pushing For Speed Over Fairness
The president of the National Association of Immigration Judges said immigration courts should not be part of the Department of Justice.

Immigration judges balk at case quotas
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pushing them to close 700 cases per year to get rid of an immense backlog.
WASHINGTON — The nation’s immigration court judges are anxious and stressed by a quota system implemented by Attorney General Jeff Sessions that pushes them to close 700 cases per year to get rid of an immense backlog, the head of the judges’ union said Friday.
It means judges would have an average of about 2 1/2 hours to complete cases – an impossible ask for complicated asylum matters that can include hundreds of pages of documents and hours of testimony, Judge Ashley Tabaddor said.

Fire Jeff Sessions . . . as the boss of immigration judges
Those on the front lines of deportation battles — the nation’s 350 immigration judges — are increasingly coming under the highly politicized thumb of their boss, Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
A slew of new directives from Sessions in the past year — including a quota system for closing cases that kicks in Oct. 1, new rules that limit the types of cases under which asylum can be granted, and new limits on the ability of judges to halt deportations issued just this week — have spurred calls to finally make this embattled corps of judges truly independent.

2 - SESSIONS VS SOCIAL MEDIA
Conservatives to Jeff Sessions: Attacking Facebook will empower 'President Elizabeth Warren'
Using antitrust laws to coerce Facebook and Twitter into setting Republican-friendly content policies violates their First Amendment rights, libertarians and tech groups are warning Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
But that's not the only danger they see in Sessions' attempt to gather a meeting of top state prosecutors to discuss whether the Silicon Valley firms are hurting competition and stifling conservative opinions: Such a move would also empower Democrats to employ the same tactics, to opposite ends.

Sessions urged not to go after social media companies by technology activists
A group of technology activists and think tanks is urging Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to go after social media companies.
Companies such as Facebook and Twitter are firmly in the spotlight at the moment amid allegations of anti-conservative bias. The Justice Department recently confirmed that Sessions has convened a meeting with a number of state attorneys general to discuss “a growing concern that these companies may be hurting competition and intentionally stifling the free exchange of ideas on their platforms.”
