One thought occurs to me this early am, upon first reading the email. The word "harvested" stands out.
…"harvested farm/ranch animals and the decades-long contacts we have had with aliens."
The animal rescue/enthusiast world recognizes this word to be newspeak for hunting down with high powered rifles, or any other killing for trophy/ cruel type activity. You might continue your dig and see other places where this newspeak takes place. The word itself is hiding, or softening up, what the actual activity is.
