Both individuals denied having communicated with each other during the email investigation; and both denied knowing each other.

Last year FBI leaked to Washington Post that the leaked email between LL and AR was a fabrication from a Russian source. Former FBI Directory Comey disagreed.

Reminder that the OIG report has an index that remained classified (perhaps until this coming release?) and that during his testimony Horowitz acknowledge an email existed between AR and LL during the investigation into Clinton server etc.

SEN John Kennedy: Your classified index, does it contain or discuss an email allegedly between AG Lynch and a person by the name of Amanda Renteria?

DOJ OIG Michael Horowitz: I'm not sure what I can say about that, publicly, given the matter is classified. So I would ask you if I can back to you on that? I'm hesitant to say anything in a public forum about that.

SEN John Kennedy: Would you allow our Chairman and Ranking Member to see the classified index?

DOJ IG Michael Horowitz: Absolutely. In fact what we are trying to do, Senator, is … what ended up happening is because of the nature of the information it was classified at such a high level by the Intelligence Community (we don't make that decision) by the Intelligence Community that it limited even the members who could see it, as well as the staffs.

And what we are doing right now is (and I asked the Deputy Attorney General's Office to help facilitate this) is to go back to the Intelligence Community and let us know how we can address whatever caused this to be classified at that high level. So that we can make sure that we can write it at a level and get it to the members, including to answer the question that you raised, promptly.

And they told us that they are doing that. We very much want the Committee to see this information.
