A 52-year-old woman was charged after she went on a stabbing spree at a Queens, New York illegal Chinese maternity hospital.

The woman, Yu Fen Wang, was charged wtih five counts of attempted murder. Three babies were stabbed during the attack.

The baby birthing factory has been in operation for about 12 years.

Police have charged the woman they say went on a stabbing spree at an illegal birthing facility in New York, cutting three infants and two adults, with another infant suffering a head injury, before attempting to take her own life.

Yu Fen Wang, 52, who worked at the Mei Xin Care underground establishment, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, police said.

The terrifying incident unfolded at around 3.40am on Friday morning inside of a three-story townhome on 161st Street between 45th and 43rd avenues in Flushing, Queens.

The victims included a 63-year-old worker, a 31-year-old man and four infant girls, aged three days, two weeks, three weeks and one month, the New York Post reported.

The three-week-old was not stabbed, but instead suffered a fractured skull, the cause of which was still being investigated on Saturday, police said.

Wang was found unconscious in the basement when police arrived at the scene, where they also found a butcher knife and meat cleaver.

All of the victims, and Wang, survived.

Many Republican candidates in the upcoming November US midterm elections are facing an uphill battle due, in part, to their support of the country’s current president, Donald Trump.

A GOP congressional candidate in Arizona is facing a particularly unique challenge after his own brothers and sisters joined forces with the opposing Democratic candidate, detailing their Republican sibling's racism.

Several brothers and sisters of incumbent Republican Representative from the US state of Arizona, Paul Gosar, have pledged their support to their sibling's Democratic rival in the upcoming US midterm elections, after pointing out their brother's racism, according to The Hill.

David Brill, the Democratic candidate for the US House of Representatives in Arizona's Fourth District, released a series of new political ads that feature testimonials by his opponent's family detailing the four-term GOP politician as a racist and supporter of the increasingly erratic policies emanating from the Trump White House.

Tim, Jennifer, Gaston, Joan, Grace and David Gosar — six of the ten children of Mom and Dad Gosar — have detailed their brother Paul's policies on health care, immigration, education and gun control, with an eye toward documenting the latter's racist beliefs, according to the Phoenix New Times.

"It would be difficult to see my brother as anything but a racist," noted sister Grace in an advertisement supporting the elder Gosar's Democratic opponent.

GOP lawmaker Paul Gosar is an unabashed supporter of Trump and the policies of the increasingly unpopular president's administration, in particular the construction of a 2000-mile wall along the US/Mexico border.

During a July junket to Belgium, Paul Gosar additionally lent his support to jailed anti-Islamic protester Tommy Robinson — real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon — who has violently lobbied to keep Muslims out of Europe, according to CNN.

The siblings have noted — similar to a rising number of American voters in the Trump era — that their Republican brother's beliefs have torn the family apart.

"None of us are doing this for publicity. None of us even want to do it," brother David said, adding that brother Paul might be ill.

"He just doesn't appear to be well," the younger sibling observed of his elder brother, cited by The Hill.

The GOP candidate has not publicly responded to the statements made by his closest family members, according to the Phoenix New Times.

The upcoming November US midterm elections are widely seen as an electoral benchmark marking the political mood of the nation, particularly in the era of Trump, in what many pundits and voters consider to be the most polarizing American presidency of modern times.

=China and the Vatican Strike Historic Deal on Catholic Bishops

After more than 60 years of uncertainty regarding Catholic clergy members operating in China, the Vatican announced an historic accord, recognizing those bishops appointed by Beijing and setting new rules for their reappointment.

Announced by Pope Francis, the deal clears the way for the reappointment of clergy in China, concerning the nomination of bishops, “a question of great importance for the life of the Church,” the Vatican said in a statement on Saturday, AFP reported.

The accords “create the conditions for greater collaboration at the bilateral level” the statement released during Francis’ visit to Baltic countries said, adding that, “with these decisions, a new process may begin that will allow the wounds of the past to be overcome, leading to the full communion of all Chinese Catholics.”

The Pope recognized seven bishops earlier appointed by China without the approval of the Holy See and an eighth bishop who “had expressed the desire to be reconciled with the Apostolic See” before he died last year, according to the statement. The deal also ruled out that bishops in the future would be proposed by the Chinese authorities and then approved by the Pope, the BBC reported.

China said that a 'provisional' agreement was signed between vice foreign minister Wang Chao and Vatican under-secretary for relations with states Antoine Camilleri. The two sides will “continue to maintain communication and push forward the improvement of bilateral relations,” Chinese statement added.

The agreement came as a part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s program of “sinicizing” religious practices in China. The government should “provide active guidance to religions so that they can adapt themselves to socialist society,” the Chinese president said, cited by the Guardian.

The deal was criticized by analysts as being 'naïve' from the Vatican side, yet Greg Burke, director of the Holy See press office, said that the deal is not political but pastoral; “allowing the faithful to have bishops who are in communion with Rome but, at the same time, recognized by Chinese authorities.” There are an estimated 12 million Catholics in China, however, the Vatican cut ties with Beijing two years after the establishment of the Communist People’s Republic of China. The Vatican was also one of 17 nation-states to recognize Taiwan as The Republic of China, separate from the mainland.

Pope Francis has sought to improve relations with China since he took office in 2013. China had repeatedly declined the Pontiff's overtures, saying that the Vatican should give up its recognition of Taiwan and promise not to interfere with mainland China’s domestic policies.

The Taiwanese government noted that it has been assured by their European ally that the deal was “not of a political or diplomatic nature” and it would not affect their diplomatic relationship.

UN Refugee Chief Denies Migrant Crisis in Europe, Declares Mass Migration a ‘Source of Progress and Prosperity’

Debate in Europe framing illegal immigration from the third world as a problem is “dangerous”, the United Nations (UN) refugee chief has warned, insisting that the mass movement of peoples has been “a source of progress and prosperity since people first began to migrate”.

“Distorted” political debate on the subject has led to Europe becoming “obsessed” with a migrant crisis that “does not exist”, Filippo Grandi said, urging EU politicians to stop squabbling “over a few boats” [of illegal immigrants].

In an interview published in the German press Thursday, he dismissed plans backed by Austria and Italy among other member states which would see asylum processing offshored and immigrants blocked from reaching European soil.

“As the United Nations High Commissioner [for refugees], I cannot support a proposal that would deprive people of the right to seek asylum in Europe. There are people who have very pressing reasons for asking for protection in EU nations,” he told Handelsblatt.
