Auto recalls often are due to software defects now. There are on avg in excess of 2million lines of code going into any given vehicle now - and proper unit testing is still not universally accepted

On principal I am not against the concept of pre-diagnostic software. In reality thats essentially ehat ‘idiot lights’ are, as well as guages, both mechanical and electronic.

We rely of software to handle so much for us already, having solid onvoard diagnostic suites are to be applauded, if the suites are solid and reliable. Unfortunately, like all things, the reliability of the diagnostic results are only as reliable as the software written (to test other software written by humans) by humans can be.

Over time, with timely and targeted updates the reliability will improve - what what ‘else’ are we getting thats bundled in those updates. looking at YOU apple

Im still pissed at those fuckers.
