US State Department Expresses Support for Iran After Ahvaz Attack

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States supports the Iranian people in their fight against radical Islamic terrorism and condemns all terrorist acts, US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told Sputnik on Saturday after the terrorist attack in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz.

"We are aware of reports of an attack by gunmen on an Iranian military parade in Ahvaz. We stand with the Iranian people against the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism and express our sympathy to them at this terrible time. The United States condemns all acts of terrorism and the loss of any innocent lives," Nauert said.

Earlier in the day, armed militants opened fire at the parade, leaving at least 25 people killed and another 60 were injured, according to media reports. The Saudi-linked Patriotic Arab Democratic Movement in Ahwaz has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Previously, Iran summoned ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Denmark, accusing the countries of harbouring Iranian opposition groups, according to Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency.

Meanwhile, Iranian Armed Forces spokesman, Brig. Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi said after the attack that the militants who had committed it were linked to the United States and Israel. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif had also accused "regional terror sponsors and their US masters" of organizing the attack.

Corbyn: Labour Will Challenge UK Prime Minister May on Any Brexit Deal

British opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said on the eve of his party’s annual conference that he would challenge the UK Cabinet on any deal on Brexit, calling for a general election if the body failed to comply.

Corbyn, addressing a crowd of supporters in Liverpool, said that he would not blindly support any deal the British government would agree on with EU lawmakers unless it protects jobs and living standards, Reuters reported.

“We will challenge this government on whatever deal it brings back,” said Corbyn, adding that “if this government can't deliver, then I simply say to [British PM] Theresa May the best way to settle this is by having a general election.”

Corbyn noted that regardless of the deal the UK government would agree to, it should comply with Labour’s so-called six tests for job security, living standards, and environmental protection. Earlier the Labour party leader said that he would back a new Brexit referendum if party members demanded it.

“I was elected to empower the members of the party. So, if conference makes a decision I will not walk away from it and I will act accordingly,” he said. “If the people's party decide they want the people to have a final say on the deal, we have to respect the view of our members and we will go out and argue for it,” added Tom Watson, the number two Labour leader.

Corbyn’s comments followed May’s return from Salzburg, where she and 17 EU member leaders failed to agree on the Chequers proposals.

“This is the moment to do what is right for Britain,” May said, adding, “Now is the time for cool heads. And it is a time to hold our nerve.” She also noted that the negotiations on Chequers had “hit an impasse.”

May’s team is reportedly preparing for a snap election in November as a contingency plan to secure the success of Brexit as well as to cement her position as UK leader, according to The Sunday Times Other reports suggest that several members of the Cabinet would demand that May present a ‘Plan B’ alongside her Brexit proposal next week, and adding that she should resign if a proposal is not presented.

UK Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt told BBC radio on Saturday that if the EU expected Britain to capitulate and give up its positions over Brexit, the bloc had “profoundly misjudged the British people.” Hunt outlined that “we may be polite, but we have a bottom line,” asserting that Britain will leave the economic bloc in March 2019, regardless of the deal’s details.

The Most Important Election in 222 Years

In 1796, America under George Washington enjoyed peace and prosperity unforeseen by even the most optimistic Founders. The election of 1796 was arguably the most important in the nation's history because it represented our first true transfer of power. Many had urged Washington to be king. Instead, he willingly gave his power back to the people, who then placed it into the hands of our second president, John Adams. Though Adams beat Thomas Jefferson by a mere three electoral votes – and won just 71 out of 276 cast – thoughts of monarchy were forgotten, and America was set on a course it maintained for the next 204 years.

The presidential election of 2000 established a new paradigm, where the winner of the contest was considered illegitimate by a large part of the opposition. Ditto 2004 and 2016. Though the effort to de-legitimize President Bush was interrupted by 9/11, the new paradigm appears fixed: Democrat winners are as American as apple pie, and Republican winners are cheaters. The peaceful transfer of power is no longer a given.

As troubling as the new paradigm is, it is just another convenient political gambit for the irresponsible left. The prominence of the new paradigm should alarm every freedom-loving American. If unchecked, in time, it will force a breaking point. It also speaks to a palpable division that goes beyond anything we've seen since at least the Civil War. Politics is no longer the art of reasonable compromise; it has become an exercise in grudging, chafing tolerance, with one side consumed by a passionate hatred for the other side – a spreading hatred that threatens to consume both sides. America is at a tipping point, and the 2018 elections will likely determine which direction we take for a generation or more.

The fact that we still have a chance to save the country from the collectivist ash heap is miraculous, given that almost every force in society is aligned against its salvation:

We toil under the baleful eye of the leftist corporate media, which ignores our successes; amplifies every perceived failing; and paints conservatism as intolerant and incompetent, stuffy, and stultifying.

A small but loud resistance movement inside conservatism is endlessly paraded before the country, obsessing over what is "crass" and "gauche." It is animated by a reeking desperation for approval of everyone outside the right and is utterly useless against a left that never puts form over substance.

The population is widely dependent upon the largess the government has been dispensing for generations.

The left seems near the end of its long march through society's consciousness-forming institutions, dominating the media and almost wholly controlling academia, the arts, the sciences, and entertainment and making serious inroads into religion.

The strings that connect and control the digital age are in the hands of the left, hands that gleefully strangle voices on the right.

Even as "the right" controls the federal government, recent events have shown that rogue leftist elements within government are active and treasonous.

The left is utterly ruthless, while the right still pretends propriety and decorum are indispensable hallmarks of civilization rather than civilization-threatening indulgences.

"Lifelong Friend" Of Kavanaugh Accuser Denies Attending Party Where Alleged Sexual Assault Occurred

A woman believed to have been one of five people at a party some 35 years ago where Christine Blasey Ford claims she was sexually assaulted by Brett Kavanaugh has become the fourth person to deny any recollection of the event.

In a Saturday night email to the Senate Judiciary Committee also received by several news outlets, Leland Ingham Keyser - a "longtime friend" of Blasey Ford's said through her attorney:

"Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford," said Keyser's attorney Howard Walsh, who has been "engaged in the limited capacity" of corresponding with the committee on behalf of Keyser, according to Politico.

Kavanaugh and Mark Judge - the other teenager allegedly in the room during the alleged sexual assault - have both stated that they have no recollection of the incident, while a third man who Ford claims was at the party - Patrick J. Smyth, also denied any recollection of the event, telling the Judiciary Committee last week in a statement: "I understand that I have been identified by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as the person she remembers as 'PJ' who supposedly was present at the party she described in her statements to the Washington Post," Smyth wrote in his statement. "I am issuing this statement today to make it clear to all involved that I have no knowledge of the party in question; nor do I have any knowledge of the allegations of improper conduct she has leveled against Brett Kavanaugh."

Smyth added: "Personally speaking, I have known Brett Kavanaugh since high school and I know him to be a person of great integrity, a great friend, and I have never witnessed any improper conduct by Brett Kavanaugh towards women. To safeguard my own privacy and anonymity, I respectfully request that the Committee accept this statement in response to any inquiry the Committee may have."

On Saturday night, a tentative deal was reached for Ford to testify publicly on Thursday, according to the New York Times.

After a brief call late on Saturday, the woman’s lawyers and aides to Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the Republican chairman of the Judiciary Committee, planned to talk again Sunday morning to continue the halting negotiations over the conditions of the testimony, according to three people familiar with the call. Aides to Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the committee’s top Democrat, were also involved. -NY Times

Predictable: Elizabeth Warren Fundraises Off Christine Blasey Ford Story

In line with her party’s mantra of never letting a good crisis go to waste, fake Indian Elizabeth Warren is now trying to fund raise off of the Christine Blasey Ford covfefe.

Demonstrating no shame, Warren sent out an email blast talking about Blasey Ford-Kavanuagh red herring, while also begging for campaign donations.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., keeps it classy. She is currently fundraising for her future presidential campaign using the sexual assault allegations lodged against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“Christine Blasey Ford has done a brave thing in coming forward. She deserves to be heard and treated with respect. Now it’s the Senate’s job to make sure that happens,” the Massachusetts Democrat wrote in an email. And then, down toward the bottom, the senator includes a button where progressives can donate, presumably to make sure that happens and definitely to fill the Warren war chest.

Warren sent the email Tuesday. The Washington Times was the first to report it, and condemnation has followed. If Warren and her colleagues believe Ford, the normal critique goes, they would fight for her and make sure her story was aired, instead of using her to make a buck.

The Boston Herald adds:

To exploit an allegation of sexual assault for fundraising purposes is politics at its lowest and no one goes lower than Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Christine Blasey Ford accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were both in high school, and Warren saw dollar signs.

Out went the fundraising email blast: “This is outrageous. Brett Kavanaugh was already disqualified to serve on the Supreme Court. But now we’re learning new information about a sexual assault allegation.”

Just as a matter of clarity, Warren had disqualified the nominee even before she knew who it was. At a protest in front of the court when President Trump named Kavanaugh, there were signs reading “Stop Hardiman,” “Stop Kethledge,” and “Stop Kavanaugh” on site, just in case.

Back to Warren’s email: “If we all get in this fight right now, from Boston and across the country – then we’ve got a fighting chance at stopping the Republicans and Kavanaugh in their tracks.”

The email links to an online petition but the predominant feature is the big red “Donate Now” button below the missive.

Of course Elizabeth Warren has been completely silent about the sexual exploits and abuses by her fellow liberals such as Bill Clinton and Keith Ellison. Because she can’t make money off of them.

Soros-Backed Group Ramps up Campaign for Second Referendum, EU Court to Hear Case on Revoking Article 50

Factions of the Remain campaign have doubled down their attempts to stop Brexit after the Soros-backed Best for Britain group will target voters in ‘swing’ constituencies, while another group of anti-Brexit activists are taking their case to the European Union’s highest court to see if MPs can vote to stop the UK leaving the bloc.

Best for Britain, which received £800,000 from Hungarian-American progressive campaigner George Soros, is planning to target more than one million Britons in ‘swing vote’ constituencies, reports The Guardian.

Partnering with the far-left group HOPE not Hate — which has received support from Soros’s Open Society Foundations in the past — the anti-Brexit group said it has ‘street-level data’ on some 90 constituencies which voted 45 to 50 percent in favour of staying in the UK and will launch its volunteer drive at Labour Party conference.

Over eight weeks, volunteers for the ‘We Want The Final Say’ campaign will employ online targetting followed by delivering some half a million leaflets, aiming to convince voters to pressure their MPs to support a vote for the final Brexit deal.

Meanwhile, a cross-party group of politicians including Scottish Green MSPs and Labour and SNP MEPs have won an appeal at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to take their case to the EU Court of Justice to argue that Article 50 — the official mechanism for leaving the EU triggered in March 2017 — can be revoked without the permission of the other 27 member states.

If the EU court agrees, it could embolden Remain MPs to attempt to overturn the June 2016 referendum result in the event of a no-deal, or clean, Brexit or if they deem the terms of the Government’s agreed deal with the bloc unsatisfactory.

A spokesman responded that the Government is committed to implementing referendum result and “will not be revoking Article 50”.

The announcements by both camps intent on defying the will of the people came after Prime Minister Theresa May’s Chequers plan — regarded as a ‘Brexit in Name Only’ by Leavers — was rejected by the other 27 EU leaders and Eurocrats following a meeting in Salzburg, Austria, this week.

In response, the Prime Minister made a surprise statement, indicating that the UK will accelerate no-deal Brexit preparations, saying that it was “not acceptable” for the bloc to reject the proposed terms without reason or counter negotiations. Appearing resolute, Mrs May said that “no deal is better than a bad deal”.

Responding to Mrs May’s speech, former Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce and Co-Chairman of Leave Means Leave John Longworth wrote for BrexitCentral that it “remains to be seen whether this is merely a ruse to get her [May] through the Conservative conference to be followed by a remarkable ‘triumph’ by the Prime Minister, in turn returning with a truly bad deal from some future EU meeting, a betrayal of the Brexit vote dressed up as a fulfillment of the democratic will of the people”.

On Saturday, Leave Means Leave launches its “Save Brexit Campaign” in Bolton, featuring UKIP MEP Nigel Farage, former Tory Brexit secretary David Davis, and Labour MP Kate Hoey, with a scheduled six rallies across the country and a fringe event at the forthcoming Conservative Party Conference. The campaign aims to “ensure a clean Brexit and to determine that the so-called Chequers proposal is ditched”.
