GOP Funding Planned Parenthood in Defense Bill

The Republican-led Senate has passed a Defense appropriations bill that includes funding both Planned Parenthood and research that uses the fetal tissue from aborted babies.

“For the second straight year of unified Republican governance, unified pro-life governance, Congress’ annual spending bills will include no new reforms protecting unborn children or getting federal taxpayers out of the abortion business,” Utah Sen. Mike Lee ripped his GOP colleagues in a floor speech about the bill that ultimately passed, 93-7.

Lee continued:

The House version of this Health and Human Services spending bill included multiple reforms. It denied taxpayer funds to the largest abortion provider in the country, Planned Parenthood; it eliminated Title X family planning grants, which cross-subsidize abortion providers; it prohibited federal funding of research on aborted fetal tissue; it included the Conscience Protection Act protecting pro-life people and groups from funding discrimination. None of these modest, common sense spending reforms survived the House/Senate negotiations. None of them. None was made a priority by the people in power to set priorities.

Under this bill, neither the unborn nor taxpayers are any more protected from the abortion industry than they were under president Obama and a unified Democratic Congress. I understand that fighting on contentious issues comes with a cost. I understand that it’s not easy, but other things come with a cost, too. It’s not just this that comes with a cost. So too does not fighting on them, especially in the rare moments when we could win.

Senate Appropriations chairman Richard Shelby announced in August that H.R. 6157 “marries” the two largest fiscal year 2019 appropriations bills – Defense and Labor-HHS-Education.”

“Each of these bills carries the near unanimous support of the Appropriations Committee,” Shelby said.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul filed an amendment to H.R. 6157 that would strip taxpayer funds from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

“One of the top priorities for a Republican Congress that professes pro-life values on the campaign trail should be to stop taxpayer funding for abortion providers,” said Paul. “This is our chance to turn our words into action, stand up for the sanctity of life, and speak out for the most innocent among us that have no voice.”

“My amendment would end the funding of Planned Parenthood, yet my amendment is now being blocked by Republicans,” Paul said.

“Many voters think Republicans actually care about the unborn,” he continued. “Many voters think Republicans are really opposed to government-funded abortions. But the dirty little secret is that Republican leadership is blocking my amendment to defund Planned Parenthood.”

While GOP Senate leadership allowed a vote on Paul’s amendment, Republicans failed to pass it, 45-48.

Farage Fumes At EU's Article 7 "Soviet Show Trial" Against Hungary

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban provoked a seething response from his fellow European Union members when he decided to close Hungary's borders and passed legislation to ban foreign influence peddling funded by billionaire financier George Soros. And earlier this month, the European Parliament voted to trigger Article 7 proceedings against Hungary for "undermining democratic values and the rule of law." Indeed, because he's steadfastly refused to accept migrants in according with the policies of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, Orban has been labeled a tyrant, despite Orban's Fidesz Party securing a majority in the country's most recent Parliamentary elections.

Despite the "extreme bullying" to which Orban has been subjected by his European colleagues, he traveled to Brussels earlier this month to face his accusers ahead of the European Parliament vote. After Orban delivered his address to the room, MEP Nigel Farage, who famously helped orchestrate the UK's vote to leave the EU back in 2016, stepped up to say a few words in Orban's defense.

"Thank God there's at least one European leader who is willing to stand up for his principles, his nation, his culture and his people in the face of such extreme bullying."

Farage argued that the vote conjured memories of Soviet-era show trials, and likened the EU Parliament to a bunch of unelected bureaucrats hypocritically lecturing Orban - whose party holds an outright majority - about democratic principles. Specifically, Farage targeted Frans Timmermans, the unelected Dutch diplomat serving as first Vice President of the European Commission. Timmermans and the rest of the Commission backed the EU Parliament in condemning Hungary for allegedly mistreating migrants and Roma communities, arguing that "democracy and the rule of law cannot exist without the protection of fundamental human rights."

"All I can say, and I'm sure for Hungarians of a certain age, today will have brought back many dark memories. You're here at a show trial where a bunch of political nonentities get up and point the finger and scream enjoying themselves with their afternoon hate, and the chief prosecutor, the commissar that comes from the unelected government, he has the audacity he has the audacity to lecture you on democracy. You don't know what you're talking about."

Farage then compared Article 7 to an updated version of the Brezhnev Doctrine - the Cold War-era policy of overweening Soviet influence that led to the USSR's brutal repression of the Hungarian Spring uprising.

"What is really happening here, Mr. Orban, is they're just updating the Brezhnev Doctrine of limited sovereignty there's no point pretending in this union you're independent there's no point pretending you've run your own country. An Article 7 is the new method of adopting that. They want to strip you of your voting rights. They want to stop giving you European funding and all of it because you have the audacity to stand up to George Soros, the man who was poured $15 billion all over the world in trying to break down the nation-states to get rid of our traditional forms of democracy."

The authorization of Article 7 proceedings isn't just an insult to Hungary - it is a direct insult to Orban personally, Farage said. He then suggested that Hungary follow in the UK's footsteps and abandon the Union entirely.

"Mr. Orban you keep saying you want to stay a member of this European Union but it's not just your country that's been insulted today - you've been insulted. Come and join the Brexit club - you'll love it."

Estonia Backs Orbán on Need for Walls as Pope Francis Demands Baltics Open the Borders

While Pope Francis demanded the tiny Baltic nations open up to mass migration Saturday, Estonia said it backs Viktor Orbán over the need to seal European borders against the third world influx.

Interior Minister of Estonia, Andres Anvelt, said border fences rolled out by the Hungarian leader, which slashed illegal immigrant numbers by more than 99 percent, were serving to protect the continent, stating that asylum seekers with no right to be in Europe must be kept out.

“I fully support [proposals asserting] that we have to address this problem outside the EU,” he said in a television interview, telling state broadcaster ETV: “We have to travel to third countries and start defending our border there, yes, and in defending our European values start establishing refugee camps as well.”

During an appearance on Studio 1 Thursday, the minister said Orbán “was definitely defending [Europe]” in his construction of fences along the EU’s external borders, adding: “We are doing the exact same thing.”

Anvelt pointed to the situation regarding this summer’s World Cup tournament in Russia, which shares a border with Estonia, noting thousands of ticket holders for the event who travelled from third world nations have reportedly since made their way to Europe.

“Russia itself officially said for the first time that they have lost at least 10,000 people,” Estonian Public Broadcasting reported the minister saying. “These were the exact same economic migrants from Bangladesh, [from] somewhere in Senegal and so on that were moving toward Europe.”

Asked whether the nation of just 1.3 million people favours a Hungarian-approach to immigration, with regards to keeping illegal immigrants out with border fences, he said: “To defend our country, certainly.”

Stating one policy difference, however, the Social Democratic Party of Estonia (SDE) politician highlighted his government’s participation “out of solidarity”, in the EU quota scheme which shares third world migrants arriving in Europe out across the bloc’s member states.

More big breaking news, which further undercuts the Ford accusation, as well as media handling of it. A source has given me the email that WaPo reporter Emma Brown sent to Mark Judge, one person Ford claims was at the party. This email is dated Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018

2) The email wants a comment from him. The subsequent story would reveal Christine Ford's name, and give details of the supposed "assault."

3) One part of the email to Judge reads: "In addition to Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, whom she called acquaintances she knew from past socializing, she recalls that her friend Leland (last name then was Ingham, now Keyser) was at the house and a friend of the boys named PJ."

4) This matters for two big reasons–Ford's credibility and WaPo's. The subsequent WaPo story would go on to cite Ford's name and details, and also list notes from a therapist that Ford told this to in 2012. Read carefully what WaPo reports, the same day it emails Judge:

5) "The notes say four boys were involved, a discrepancy Ford says was an error on the therapist’s part. Ford said there were four boys at the party but only two in the room.”

6) Wait, say what? WaPo reports publicly that Ford says it was "four boys,"even after WaPo reporter tells Judge that Ford had told her it was three boys and a girl.

7) So first, huge problem: This was just a week ago, and we have Ford giving two different accounts of who was present. Four boys. No, three boys, one girl. Either way, therapist notes from 2012 definitively say four boys, which Ford didn't dispute. But now… a girl!

8) Other problem: WaPo's reporting. Reporter has for a week had the names of those Ford listed as present. One is a woman. Yet it writes a story saying FOUR BOYS. Why? Maybe a mistake. But if so, why did WaPo never correct that narrative?

9) What, you can't find Keyser? She has lived in the DC area a long time. The paper had no trouble tracking down the other two men (btw, who also denied such party). And why not publish Keyser's name? It published the other men's names.

10) In its most recent update tonight, WaPo writes: "Before her name became public, Ford told The Post she did not think Keyser would remember the party because nothing remarkable had happened there, as far as Keyser was aware."

11) Wow. "Before her name became public, Ford told…" That is WaPo admitting that it had the name, and had Ford's response to what would clearly be a Keyser denial, but NEVER PUT IT OUT THERE. Again, why? A lot of people have a lot questions to answer.

Maybe we can figure out happened 2 years ago? More classified Clinton emails uncovered by Judicial Watch lawsuit! The Comey-Strzok-Lynch Clinton email “matter” was a sham, so it is urgent that AG Sessions finally order a new criminal investigation.

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today released two batches, 184 pages and 45 pages, of newly uncovered emails of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from the U.S. Department of State sent and received over her unsecure, non-“state.gov” email system. Five emails contain classified information.

Judicial Watch obtained the documents in response to a FOIA lawsuit filed on May 6, 2015, after the State Department failed to respond to a March 4, 2015 FOIA request (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:15-cv-00687)) seeking:

All emails sent or received by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in her official capacity as Secretary of State, as well as all emails by other State Department employees to Secretary Clinton regarding her non-“state.gov” email address.

The documents are part of the accelerated schedule of production ordered by U.S. District Court Judge James E. Boasberg, which requires the State Department to complete processing by September 28, 2018, the remaining documents of the 72,000 pages recovered by the FBI in its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illicit email server. These new classified and other emails appear to be among those that Clinton had attempted to delete or had otherwise failed to disclose.

The new documents include material classified “confidential” on negotiations between Northern Ireland and UK, as well as negotiations with Israel, Palestine, and France. They also include a reference to a Clinton meeting with controversial leftwing billionaire George Soros, and advice to Clinton from Sid Blumenthal, who was barred from a State Department position by the Obama administration and regardless continued to advise her on matters of state.

Supreme Court Opens Its Next Term on October 1st – That Explains Ford’s Delays and Unrealistic Demands

Democrats know if they delay the Kavanaugh vote for another week he will not be confirmed before the next Supreme Court session.

Make no mistake about it. Democrats are using Christine Ford to prevent Trump from placing a justice on the Supreme Court.

Tucker Carlson: Here are the basic facts about it. According to the original schedule most of us assumed was real two weeks ago the senate should have already voted on the nomination by now and Kavanaugh almost certainly would have been confirmed. He had the numbers. And then the wrinkle. Democrats leaked the name of Christine Ford to the press. Ford alleges that sometime back in high school, about 36 year ago, Kavanaugh jumped on her at a party and groped her over her clothes. She’s provided very few details including when and where it allegedly happened. Kavanaugh has denied the story entirely and so has the other person Ford said was present, a man named Mark Judge… Thursday is a significant date in this story. Because of senate rules which are complex, if Ford testifies next Thursday the vote on Kavanaugh will be pushed back at least another week… …Democrats will have prevented the president from filling this vacancy. We’ll have just eight justices for the foreseeable future… You may have voted for Trump in hope that he would put reasonable people on the Supreme Court. But TOUGH!

October 1: The Supreme Court begins its next term: The ostensible reason for moving right along with Kavanaugh’s nomination and confirmation was to make sure the Supreme Court had its full complement of nine Justices when its next term begins on October 1. Justice Kennedy is on “senior status,” and is still available for part-time duty on lower federal courts, but he’s gone for good from SCOTUS.

If no one has been confirmed by October 1, which is beginning to look more and more likely, then the Court will convene with just eight justices, and more importantly, with the conservative and liberal “blocs” on the Court deadlocked with four justices each. Yes, a subsequently confirmed justice can ascend to the bench the moment she or he is cleared by the Senate. But the new justice will typically not vote on cases in which oral arguments were heard in their absence. So the longer the ninth justice is missing, the more it affects the Court’s work. The period between Justice Antonin Scalia’s death in February of 2016 and Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation in April of 2017 shows how this can be a significant issue in big cases that expose divisions on the Court.

Obviously, the longer Democrats can delay the process the better their chances that Judge Kavanaugh will not sit on the next Supreme Court session.

And that is exactly why they have decided to stall and resist the process by any means necessary.

The €2.1 trillion Pan European Pension Fund is marketing itself as a benign entity which will help EU citizens fund their pensions privately rather than relying on the state.

But, in fact, it represents a hugely ambitious and terrifying power grab by the globalist financial elite — with potentially disastrous repercussions for free markets, entrepreneurship, and consumer choice.

With €2.1 trillion of assets under management — twice more than its nearest rival, the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund — it will have enormous power to dictate how companies are run, the policies they adopt, and indeed whether some of them thrive or die.

Moreover, it will be able to use its power to bully countries — EU member states especially — that don’t toe the globalist line.

You can easily infer just how malign it’s going to be from the people involved. They all belong to the charmed circle of globalist Davos types who despise free markets, loathe the populist revolutions that gave us Trump and Brexit, believe passionately in diversity, sustainability, equality and the rest of the neo-Marxist PC agenda, and want to entrench the hegemony of the democratically unaccountable European Union — and crush any resistance from individual member states.

Firstly, take a look at who will be administering the fund, BlackRock – the U.S. hedge fund behemoth. The choice of BlackRock is interesting as in 2015 they were hit with a record fine by the German financial watchdog BaFin for misrepresenting its stakes in almost 50 of the country’s largest companies over several years. This company also happens to be one of the biggest lobbyists in Brussels, paying anything up to €1.5 million each year to influence decisions in the EU corridors of power. In 2017, representatives from BlackRock held 33 meetings with the European Commission.

In the UK, BlackRock is perhaps best known for retaining arch Remainer George Osborne (also, currently the puppet editor of a Russian Billionaire) for a day a week’s work at the mystifying salary of £650,000 per year.

Secondly, is the connection between BlackRock and the EU’s most senior banker; ECB President Mario Draghi. Draghi belongs to the ultra-secretive Group of Thirty, an interest group representing private financial interests and which serves as a lobby to further these private financial interests. Even the EU has raised serious questions over this conflict of interests. The EU Ombudsman, Emma O’ Reilly, has previously insisted that Draghi leave the group as it poses a conflict to his duties at the European Central Bank, this he consistently refuses to do! BlackRock just happens to be one of the financial backers of the Group.

Remainer Bank of England Governor Mark Carney is also a member.

Hungary’s Holocaust museum triggers bitter conflict between Jewish groups

The planned opening of a Holocaust museum in Budapest has triggered an acrimonious exchange between the European Jewish Congress and Chabad of Hungary.

In a statement Monday, EJC President Moshe Kantor called the Hungarian Chabad affiliate EMIH a group with “no tradition and no historical roots in Hungary” that is favored by the government for its moral pliability but not by local Jews. EMIH fired back by calling Kantor a dodgy oligarch who is ignorant of Hungarian history.

The unusually harsh exchange is an escalation in the controversy over the House of Fates state-funded museum ahead of its opening next year under the ownership of EMIH.
