Alright, I guess I will stop lurking for a moment since you asked about digestible Bible study resources. Watch Shepherd's Chapel on YouTube and TV. It is an hour long when aired (from their own satellite spot). First 30-35 minutes are dedicated to Bible study, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. They generally alternate between the Old Testament & New Testament a book at a time. The use the least revised copy of the King James version of the Bible possible to get to the most accurate translations. They go the etymology of words and even to the slang of the age and area when possible. Why is it important to do this? Picture a ship leaving NY on its way to a particular destination in Europe, but they are 15 degrees off. It doesn't seem like much at the beginning, but by the time they cross the Atlantic Ocean they are way off course. Same is true with Bibles that have revised, revised and revised again. Oftentimes those translations are not done by Christians. Can you think of any entities or people that may find it useful to pollute or misdirect the interpretations of the Bible?
The last 25 minutes of or so is dedicated to taking questions that have been mailed in or phoned in and then staff writes them down. Pastor Murray grabs a handful and answers as many as he can each episode. They are on TV stations M-F. In my area there are multiple stations airing Shepherd's Chapel so it won't be hard to find, especially now that they are on YouTube as well.
Pastor Arnold Murray and Pastor Dennis (father & son) Murray have never accepted any payment for the very many years of teaching the Bible. They do it to spread the Word. The are not Bible thumpers begging for money. I think they say 1 sentence only regarding donations. Something like, "If we have helped you and your so moved to, than please help us spread the word". I'm paraphrasing. It is the fastest growing independent Church in the US. The fastest growing foreign country viewership growth is… wait for it….CHINA!
