Grassley Sets Thursday Hearing for Kavanaugh as Blasey Ford Continues to Make Demands

In this episode of, “As the Senate Turns on the Finger of Christine Blasey Ford”, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has rescheduled the planned Monday hearing to Thursday to hear testimony from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Ford has made an uncorroborated accusation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at decades ago at a drunken high school pool party that no one else, including the four people she claims were at the party, remembers. The announcement by Grassley comes after weekend negotiations with Blasey Ford’s attorneys led by Hillary Clinton fundraiser Debra Katz.

RESCHEDULED NOTICE OF COMMITTEE HEARING CONTINUATION

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary hearing on the nomination of the Honorable Brett M. Kavanaugh to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States will continue on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 226 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

By order of the Chairman.

Negotiations for the conditions of the hearing are ongoing, however. Still to be resolved, according to reports, are who will speak first, who will do the questioning, however Grassley sent an email to Blasey Ford’s attorneys reminding them of the committee’s power to run the hearing as it sees fit.

The woman who has accused Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers has committed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, her lawyers said on Sunday. The lawyers said some details — including whether an outside lawyer will question her — still needed to be resolved, but that those issues would not impede holding a hearing.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) thanked Ford for accepting the invitation in an email that, according to people familiar with its contents, also reminded her attorneys that “the committee determines which witnesses to call, how many witnesses to call, and what order to call them and who will question them. These are nonnegotiable.”

Blasey Ford’s attorneys issued a statement confirming their client will testify in an open hearing, even though they say there are “actual threats to her safety and her life.”

True Pundit To Release Unedited High School Yearbooks of Christine Ford That Were Scrubbed from Internet

“We will release Ford’s yearbooks,” said Mike “Thomas Paine” Moore of True Pundit. “We have some already in-house and are working on obtaining more and these are all unedited, raw just like when they were published in the 1980s.”

Moore noted every electronic trace of the yearbooks have been scrubbed from the internet in recent weeks.

Protesters Swarm Long Island ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’

Protesters gathered outside a Long Island, New York, public library Saturday to speak out against the library’s decision to host a Drag Queen Story Hour with children as young as four years old.

Dozens of protesters lined up outside the Port Jefferson Public Library, holding signs such as “Honk to Oppose Drag Queen Story Hour,” and “Where Is Bible Story Hour?” to protest Saturday’s Drag Queen Story Hour—where a drag queen reads stories to young children, News 12 Long Island reported.

“I don’t think we should push this ideology and statements to a 4-year-old,” Pastor Julio Carrion, of Port Jefferson, told News 12 Long Island. “But if they want to continue the conversation with an adult, I’m here now.”

A counter-protester wearing a giant rainbow flag begged to differ with many of the protesters, saying drag queens are merely characters.

“If they don’t want their children to be read to by a character—not even a transgender woman—by a drag queen which is a character, like Spiderman, then go away,” said counterprotester Roland Hoffman, of Manorville.

Port Jefferson Library officials say they expected protests at the event, but called it a “success” and say they plan on having more Drag Queen Story Hour events in the future.

The Drag Queen Story Hour at the Port Jefferson Library, which was organized by the comedian Harmonica Sunbeam, is one of many Drag Queen Story Hour events around the world have been popping up at public schools and other educational facilities.

In one such event in a Brooklyn, New York, public school, a first-grade teacher who praised the event said the drag queens told her students “there is no such thing as ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ things.”

Swedish Populists Win So Many Seats They Have Difficulty Filling Them

The populist Sweden Democrats won so many votes in the country’s recent elections that they won more seats in local governments than they had candidates to fill them.

While it is not uncommon to see empty seats in municipal governments in Sweden at the end of an election cycle, it is rare to see empty seats after an election. The Sweden Democrats (SD) now find themselves in the position of having 22 empty seats across the country in 17 municipalities due to winning such a large share of votes, SVT reports.

One of the reasons the SD have so many empty seats to fill is that the party locked in a certain number of candidates prior to the election and won more seats than they anticipated.

“On a locked list, the party itself has set up its candidates within the stipulated time, and then you can not add any names,” said Hans-Ivar Swärd, election officer at the Swedish election authority (Valmyndigheten).

The issue for the populist party, according to Swärd, is that they have an elected mandate but due to not having people to fill the seats, they cannot fulfil that mandate.

In nine municipalities the SD locked the candidate list without even having one name on it because if the list was left open the party would not have the ability to control which candidates were running for the party but this has meant empty seats in seven different municipalities.

SD municipal politician Petter Nilsson explained the reasoning behind the locked lists saying: “We chose to lock the lists to ensure that we did not get the wrong candidates, that is, those who were not Sweden Democrats.”

“It is not desirable. The best thing that could happen is that we have candidates in all municipalities and all are eligible,” he added.

This year’s Swedish national elections saw the populists make huge gains while establishment parties fell in the polls, including the ruling Social Democrats who scored their worst election victory in a hundred years.

While many parties have outright refused to negotiate with the SD on a potential coalition deal, a recent survey of Moderate Party politicians showed a majority willing to have a dialogue for a potential governing agreement.
