Erdogan: Russia, Turkey to Decide on Radical Groups to Leave Idlib Zone

"During negotiations on Idlib in Sochi we decided to establish a demilitarized zone between the territories controlled by the opposition and regime. The opposition will remain on the territories which it occupies. We will ensure that radical groups, designated by [Turkey] together with Russia, will not be able to operate in the region," Erdogan wrote in his article for Russia's Kommersant newspaper.

Turkish-backed Groups Welcome Idlib Demilitarization Agreement

Despite of its positive attitude towards the agreement, the Turkish-backed groups said in its official statement that it doesn’t trust Russia. According to the NFL’s claims, the Russian side has not respected several previous agreements.

“Despite of our full cooperation with our Turkish ally to facilitate their efforts to spare civilians from the scourge of war, we will remain alerted and wary of any treachery from the side of the Russians, the regime and the Iranians,” the NFL statement reads.

Russian Military Revealed Additional Details Of IL-20 Shootdown Off Syrian Coast

The presented objective data testifies that the actions of the Israeli fighter pilots, which led to the loss of life of 15 Russian servicemen, either lacked professionalism or were an act of criminal negligence to say the least. Therefore, we believe that the blame for the tragedy with the Russian Ilyushin Il-20 aircraft lies entirely with the Israeli air forces and those who made the decision to carry out such actions,” Konashenkov said.

The misleading information provided by the Israeli officer about the area of strikes did not allow the Russian Il-20 airplane to move timely to a safe area,” Konashenkov stated. “The actions of the Israeli fighter pilots, which led to the loss of life of 15 Russian servicemen, either lacked professionalism or were an act of criminal negligence, to say the least.” “This is an extremely ungrateful response to all that has been done by the Russian Federation for Israel and the Israeli people recently,” Konashenkov said. “In view of the above, the hostile actions committed by the Israeli Air Force against the Russian Ilyushin Il-20 aircraft cross the line of civilized relations,” Konashenkov emphasized.

Russia Capable of Closing Syrian Airspace for Israel - Senior Russian MP

"The essence and meaning of our response is to completely eliminate the possibility of such incidents in the future. We, for example, have all the necessary resources to completely close the Syrian airspace for Israel, and this is only one of the options," Klintsevich said.

"In connection with this, I consider the statement of Israeli Defense Minister [Avigdor Lieberman], who said today that the attacks on Syria would continue, to be counter-productive. This rhetoric can only aggravate the situation, I do not think that this development of events meets the interests of Israel," the Russian lawmaker concluded.

Giuliani Vows Regime Change At "Iran Uprising" Event; MEK Supporters Chant John McCain's Name

Speaking at an MEK-linked event called the "Iran Uprising Summit" in New York City on Saturday, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani told an audience that the Iranian government is "going to be overthrown" as soon as revolutionary "conditions" are ripe.

“I don’t know when we’re going to overthrow them. It could be in a few days, months, a couple of years, but it’s going to happen. They’re going to be overthrown, the people of Iran have obviously had enough,” said Giuliani at the event hosted by the Organization of Iranian-American Communities at a Times Square hotel.

“The sanctions are working. The currency is going to nothing … These are the conditions that lead to successful revolution, and, God willing, non-violent revolution,” he said.

James Woods: Letter From a Twitterham Jail

Conservative actor James Woods was put in Twitter jail last week over his posting of a meme back in July that mocked beta male Democrats. Twitter is demanding he delete the tweet to get reinstated, which Woods refuses, on the grounds of Free Speech, to do. Twitter claims the meme “includes text and imagery that has the potential to be misleading in a way that could impact an election.”

Nearly $18M in cocaine seized in donated boxes of bananas

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) found something unexpected in 2 pallets comprised of 45 boxes of bananas that were donated at the Ports of America in Freeport: Nearly $18 million worth of cocaine.

The bananas had been donated to the TDCJ because they were too ripe, the TDCJ said in a Facebook post. Two sergents from the Scott Unit were loading up the bananas when they noticed one of the boxes felt different.

Under the bananas, they found a bundle of a white powdery substance, which U.S. Customs agents confirmed was cocaine.

They searched all 45 boxes and found 540 packages of cocaine with an estimated street value of $17,820,000.

U.S. Customs and Drug Enforcement are investigating.

Mike Pence: Obama Administration ‘Stifled’ Economy

Jobless claims are the lowest since the 1960s, unemployment is the lowest since 2000, and wage growth is the highest it’s been since 2008.

“It didn’t just happen,” Vice President Mike Pence said in Washington on Sept. 22. “It’s because the American people made a choice in 2016 to change the direction of this country.

“I mean, the truth is the last administration stifled our economy under an avalanche of red tape … The last president almost, [he] virtually declared war on American energy.”

Pence, speaking at the 2018 Values Voter Summit dedicated to advancing religious liberty and limited governement, said he was incensed by remarks former President Barack Obama made at a political rally in Pennsylvania the day before about the economy.

Obama, who inherited the 2008 financial crisis, touted the longest streak of job creation on record, 20 million more people signed up for health insurance since 2010, and higher wages than when he took office as proof that the growth in the economy under President Donald Trump is not that incredible.

“So when you hear folks taking credit for this economic miracle, it’s like, ‘hold up,'” he said. “They act like it just started.”

While all the economic gains he cited are true, it’s not the whole picture.

Obama is right that more people more people have health insurance thanks to the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. But the federal government’s expenditure on the program has grown dramatically, which comes out of taxpayer pockets. For example, when Obama took office in 2009, the federal government spent $250.9 billion on Medicaid. Last year, the federal government spent about $430 billion on the program, an increase of 71 percent. Obamacare has also pushed up insurance premiums, mostly for those who don’t get subsidies from the government, and that has made insurance premiums and deductibles almost double since 2010 when Obamacare was implemented.

Both the employment rate and job growth increased steadily while Obama was in office, but the administration would have had to stifle the economy to keep those rates at the crisis levels they were at in 2009.

Pence cited the GOP tax cuts and getting rid of the individual mandate for health insurance as factors that have increased GDP from less than 2 percent growth when Trump took office to over 4 percent now.

“President Obama, you presided over the weakest economic expansion since the Great Depression,” Pence said. “This economy isn’t booming because of your policies, it’s booming because we’ve been rolling back the failed policies of your administration since day one.”

But more important than the economy, he assured the crowd that the Trump administration stood for the values that the country was founded on: respect for the sanctity of life, support for the rule of law, freedom of religion, and a free market.

“The truth is faith, family, hard work, and patriotism are the glue that has bound the fabric of our nation for generations. We’re not a people bound together by geography or ethnicity. We’re a people bound together by a common commitment to freedom and a belief that we the people are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights of life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” he said.

He warned voters that if the conservatives lose their majority in Congress, the progress that that administration has made so far and the further progress that could be made would likely be lost.

Complacency, he warned, is the greatest threat to keeping a Republican majority in the House and Senate, and the right has to match and surpass the energy and enthusiasm of the left if it’s going to win.

“You know, history records that the first midterm election for the party that holds the White House is challenging, and that’s been true for our party in all but two elections over the last 100 years,” he said. “That’s the conventional wisdom. But I think we all know what President Donald Trump thinks of conventional wisdom.”

‘Demand Hasn’t Materialized’: OPEC Ignores Trump Demands to Drop Price of Oil

If you can’t get them to keep quiet, ignore them, appears to be the playbook currently in use by OPEC.

Tweets by US President Donald Trump demanding that OPEC boost its oil output as a means of lowering prices worldwide have been met with silence by the global fossil-fuel energy bloc.

Over the course of a Saturday/Sunday OPEC-non-OPEC Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC) meeting in Algiers, the bloc alluded to Trump's demands without naming names, simply acknowledging that customers have sufficient resources of crude for the present.

OPEC member states including Saudi Arabia, as well as observer nations including Russia, suggested increased oil supplies might be possible at a future date but did not offer a direct response to urgent requests from Trump or his administration to boost supplies — a political play that has served the US president in the past.

REPORT: Officials Inside White House Believe McCabe’s Team Planted Rosenstein Story

White House insiders reportedly believe former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe’s team planted a story in the press suggesting Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is conspiring against the president, according to Politico on Saturday.

McCabe’s colleagues allegedly concocted the ruse to bait President Donald Trump into firing Rosenstein ahead of November’s midterm elections, the report noted. Individuals within the West Wing believe the former FBI director’s team pushed the story to create political consequences for Trump, according to Politico.

McCabe’s spokesman pushed back on any such assertions, Politico reported. The report refers to a Sept. 21 New York Times article suggesting Rosenstein discussed wearing a wire to record Trump and volunteered to recruit cabinet officials to potentially remove the Republican from office.

Rosenstein allegedly made the remarks in meetings with Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI officials shortly after the May 9, 2017, firing of James Comey as FBI director. The deputy AG took part in Comey’s ouster, writing a letter recommending that he be fired because of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

Rosenstein, who is overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, also reportedly told McCabe he could potentially persuade Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. (RELATED: Trump Must Fire Rod Rosenstein Immediately)

Some people in Trump’s world are supporting Rosenstein and pushing back against a growing fervor brewing from within conservative circles. A senior White House official warned against any dramatic action. The official, who spoke anonymously to Politico, called Rosenstein a “straight shooter” and said his repudiation of TheNYT’s article was believable.

Rosenstein gave a full-throated rejection of the piece and argued that it is not appropriate to invoke the 25th Amendment, which stipulates the president can be ousted if he or she is mentally unfit to serve, against Trump.

“I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda,” he said in a statement. “But let me be clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

Facebook Brushed Off the U.N. Five Separate Times Over Calls For Murder of Human Rights Worker

Facebook’s total inability to keep itself from being a convenient tool for genocidal incitement in Myanmar has been well-covered, now a case study in how a company with such immense global power can so completely fail to use it for good. But a new report released this week by the United Nations fact-finding mission in Myanmar, where calls for the slaughter of Muslims have enjoyed all the convenience of a modern Facebook signal boost, makes clear just how unprepared the company was for its role in an ethnic massacre.

In a recent New Yorker profile of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he responds to his company’s role in the crisis — which the U.N. has described as “determining” — with all the urgency and guilt of a botched restaurant order: “I think, fundamentally, we’ve been slow at the same thing in a number of areas, because it’s actually the same problem. But, yeah, I think the situation in Myanmar is terrible.” Zuckerberg added that the company needs to “move from what is fundamentally a reactive model” when it comes to blocking content that’s fueled what the U.N. described last year as a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing.”

The new report reveals just how broken this “reactive model” truly is.

According to the 479-page document, and as flagged in a broader Guardian story this week, “the Mission itself experienced a slow and ineffective response from Facebook when it used the standard reporting mechanism to alert the company to a post targeting a human rights defender for his alleged cooperation with the Mission.” What follows is the most clear-cut imaginable violation of Facebook’s rules, followed by the most abject failure to enforce them when it mattered most:

The post described the individual as a “national traitor”, consistently adding the adjective “Muslim”. It was shared and re-posted over 1,000 times. Numerous comments to the post explicitly called for the person to be killed, in unequivocal terms: “Beggar-dog species. As long as we are feeling sorry for them, our country is not at peace. These dogs need to be completely removed.” “If this animal is still around, find him and kill him. There needs to be government officials in NGOs.” “Wherever they are, Muslim animals don’t know to be faithful to the country.” “He is a Muslim. Muslims are dogs and need to be shot.” “Don’t leave him alive. Remove his whole race. Time is ticking.” The Mission reported this post to Facebook on four occasions; in each instance the response received was that the post was examined but “doesn’t go against one of [Facebook’s] specific Community Standards”. The Mission subsequently sent a message to an official Facebook email account about the matter but did not receive a response. The post was finally removed several weeks later but only through the support of a contact at Facebook, not through the official channel. Several months later, however, the Mission found at least 16 re-posts of the original post still circulating on Facebook. In the weeks and months after the post went online, the human rights defender received multiple death threats from Facebook users, warnings from neighbours, friends, taxi drivers and other contacts that they had seen his photo and the posts on Facebook, and strong suggestions that the post was an early warning. His family members were also threatened. The Mission has seen many similar cases where individuals, usually human rights defenders or journalists, become the target of an online hate campaign that incites or threatens violence.
